Obviously there are a number of things to talk about but I’m gonna focus on the less obvious.
First off Fuji has some stuff to break down. Who injured him, dude is an admiral and besides white beard we haven’t seen admirals get touched so far in the series. I guess Marco but whatever. Potentially Sabo but I’m not even sure Sabo is that strong but it’s definitely possible he is. The other point I want to bring up the way he says ‘It must be because you haven’t personally suffered under them’ means that Fuji, before joining the marines, must have suffered under a warlord at some point. Maybe backstory with his whole blindness thing. He has had a grudge against the warlords since the get go and may be the reason he joined the marines through the draft.
Second we start seeing a disparity between the marines and CD’s in this chapter. Which had been happening ever since the new world. As this continues to grow we will definitely see something go sideways. Garp being revered as he is and being against them is pretty profound and Sengoku has more than one reason to tell this story. Akainu obviously didn’t like that he was telling it for a reason. Also I don’t think the main reason he didn’t like the incident was because of allying with Roger. It’s because something happened with the Celestial Dragons and I almost guarantee there is more to this story. I’m betting it has to do with what eventually became the One Piece and that’s why Roger helped.
Third Saber of Xebec is Blackbeard’s ship name. Here is a connection somewhere in there. I guarantee that Xebec’s goal is in fact Blackbeard’s goal. I would be willing to bet the previous owner of the yami yami no mi was in fact Xebec himself and that’s why he was so powerful. Undoubtedly Blackbeard has either researched Xebec throughly or is even related to him in some way. I think this is our first big hint at Blackbeard’s origins.
Fourth I want to talk about all the yonko respective bounties. People are freaking out over Shanks bounty and how it was so low. In fact this is kinda what should have been expected. Dude isn’t really a threat. He just goes his own way doing his own stuff he doesn’t really have a bone to pick and if anything seems more invested in keeping the world balanced than throwing it into disarray. Proven by not only stopping Kaido during the war but also by meeting with the gorosei secretly. He has different goals and therefore really isn’t that big of a threat and that’s what bounties are based off of. Not strength. Bounties have never been made off of strength. I would also like to point out that now that Oda has officially revealed these it’s pretty clear that the series end is close at hand. These have been hidden for so long because Oda couldn’t trap himself into a peak much like dragon ball did early on its series. Now that he has you can say he has a definitive look at how One Piece will continue and where he wants the characters to end. Meaning he has it all mapped out.
Fifth the reason for showing Rogers and Whitebeards bounty is being used as a barometer for Luffy and the crew. We will know when we are close when Luffy gets close. Keep in mind Luffy should be close to 2 billion after this arc alone. This is gonna be a very interesting couple of years in One Piece considering what is going to have to happen.
Last but not least, Sengokus words at the end of this chapter are very very interesting. Many seem to think it guarantees the marines not going to Wano. I think it means the opposite. I think sengoku is extremely curious as to what’s in Wano and why so much happens there and at the least I think we see Garp there later in this arc to clarify the stories we have heard in this chapter. If not all out marine presence there.
Anyway those are just the thoughts I had of this chapter.
