Let’s start this tournament with something nice and light. Let’s talk about lightspeed. This problem has plagued this fandom for a while, and now it’s time to settle this once and for all. The grand question is: is Monkey D. Luffy lightspeed?
Before we answer this hellish question let’s ask ourselves, what is lightspeed? The speed of light. Nothing more and nothing less. In simple terms, anything that can move at the speed of light is lightspeed. For instance, admiral Kizaru is made of light, therefore he is lightspeed.
So how do identify if someone is lightspeed? If they have moved at the speed of light. Reacting at the speed of light is different from moving at the speed of light. If A bullet is fired towards me and I move out of the way, am I as fast as a bullet? No. I reacted before the bullet could hit me and moved out of the way. If Luffy is lightspeed, then he should basically be teleporting all over the place similarly to Kizaru. Even if it is nerfed within the world, lightspeed is still generally OP in every scenario.
Lets say for even a second that Luffy is lightspeed. What does that make Kaido? Brooke is supposedly the fastest straw hat, what does that make him? Hell even Kizaru, the man literally made of light, what does that make him?? If Luffy is truly lightspeed, fights should not last nearly as long as they do or that makes most antagonists that he’s fought lightspeed and above. He can react at the speed of light just fine, but actually physically moving at the speed of light? Not happening
