The Pika-Pika no mi's Light beams

So whenever i watch a compilation of the kizaru, one way or another i sometimes see him shoot a light beam that passes thru a humans body. An example of this is when he shot marco with a light beam and it passed thru him in marineford. I always wonder how that works. Does it burn the enemy's body? does it work as a normal bullet? i doubt it's either of those because we don't see the wound/hole/burn made by the light beam so im always confused by this

Light passes through objects. Its likely that since Kizaru's light is more directed towards the foe and more powerful that it more clearly passes through

Although it's cartoon and we probably shouldn't delve into this... But you could think of it like an extremely powerful, high energy laser, which boils everything in its way.

Cause light passes through things, unless it just goes through the enemy because it's too powerful or something.
