I chose no for the poll but I have separate answers. No, Roger was not the first owner and yes someone gave it to Roger. My theory is JoyBoy has a similar hat to the straw hat or maybe the same one then it was just passed down generation by generation and over time it was changed or maybe replaced with a similar hat but with the same meaning
