Literally his former disciple robin or “Ms Sunday” Stomps him now, A lot of people say luffy has too much plot armor but he does have plot armor basically every mc does but that doesnt mean he has too much, He struggles with his villains too, Like the first rob lucci vs luffy fight, losing to croc multiple times, Losing to kaido multiple times, The mc always ends up victorious but he isnt too much of a plot armored character

It’s a war, why tf would he not be serious. And it’s still impressive considering he’s a fleet admiral and one of the strongest characters in the series with one of the strongest df’s. Crocodile lost the fight because he was introduced early, when the story was meant to be way shorter. Therefore the scaling wouldn’t go as high, so Crocodile would still be strong relative to everyone else.

But then the story ended up way longer, and Oda had to keep Crocodile relevant, which is why he suddenly became so much more powerful in Impel Down and Marineford, and got a bounty of over 1 billion.

There is no way he could have possibly gotten that bounty without being YC1 at least. Even considering that strength isn’t the only thing that contributes to bounty, that is far too high for him to not be powerful

We know he wasn’t serious because he was protecting marine ford. If he was serious it would have been like punk hazard
