Shanks fleet is made of fodders, seems like he just protecting them under his flag

But yeah, new emperors bounties are low compared to the others, but Big Mama and Kaido stayed there for so long...

@Monkey.Dree Shanks fleet can’t all be fodder if Big Mom wanted Giants on her side before fighting them. That would be insane to have just Shanks main crew be on that level. He must have at least a couple good sub crews even if 90% are weak crews using his name for protection

Luffy's only been active for about 3yrs and already ascended to Yonko.

Mamas fleet is also trash, as proved in WCI and Wano ...

But sure the Giants are the strongest acquisition, and they are with Shanks for now, so thats why Mama needed them i think..

@ASimon24 Yeah and it took Shanks 6 years with 1 arm and no DF powers, so that seems perfectly reasonable considering who Shanks and Luffy are

@Monkey.Dree I could accept that if the way Shanks crew works is anyone half decent joins the main crew and anyone weak is relegated to a sub crew. Because otherwise the feats just don’t line up

Shanks crew is the strongest overall, Kaido strongest attack and Mama strongest defense as stated by Oda

@Monkey.Dree I’m talking about a set up similar to White Beard where some division commanders like Marco were in charge of their own sub crew, but that sub crew was always on the main ship and didn’t have their own ship. Then you had division commanders who had their own sub crew and their own ship

As a result you would have people who weren’t a part of the main crew on the main ship

@Monkey.Dree I don’t think any crew worked exactly like White Beards, but Big Moms sub crews had to marry into the family, Luffy’s sub crews copied their ceremony from the White Beard Pirates, and Black Beard also mimicked White Beards crew structure. Since Shanks was a part of that previous generation and was a part of the Roger Pirates, I could see him wanting to have all the crew on one ship like Roger, while still having some type of sub crew command structure for the actual crew since it’s the established norm

This would make sense since Oda also likened Shanks relationship with his sub crews to the straw hat grand fleet. I took that as a reference to them not paying tribute since that’s what was mentioned by the crews in the chapter. However it also could have meant that while Shanks wanted everyone on one ship like Roger, instead similar to Luffy he was talked into protecting a bunch other crews. This lines up because Shanks would essentially be copying the two biggest men in his life, Roger the man who raised him and White Beard, Roger’s rival who he respected

It also solves the issue of the Red Hair pirates feats. Particularly Kaido and the Navy both backing down over 1 ship, because that 1 ship is the actual Red Hair fleet and contains all the sub crews capable of fighting, while the other ships are simply using a name and would never actually show up. It also explains Big Mom wanting Giants because she could do what Shanks did to Kid and wipe out Shanks ship in one go, rather than try to fight well balanced quality with overwhelming numbers
