Wait what happened? I just caught up with anime and saw Luffy grab Kaido like a snake. And people think Kaido beats Shanks. I'm just curious what Shanks did afterwards to make him get so many votes?

I get what you mean and I do agree Kaido takes Shanks.

But Kaido had not stopped swinging and fighting since the Scabbards hit him. Luffy had a nap, a 3 course Dinner and rest as Kaido just kept fighting. Luffy almost died again when Gear 5 almost wore off. And even then Kaido could've tried to dodge the final attack but decided to fight it with his own attack.

The reason Shanks would win is because Gear 5 doesn't last long and Yonko fights can take more than a week. Luffy would be fighting Shanks really well until Gear 5 runs out and he is left an old man on the ground leaving him easily killed

I'm just going by what I saw with some people. I don't think Kaido could take Shanks, but either way there'd be no evidence. I just go with the fact that Shanks was able to at least talk Kaido out of his life goal. The prerequisite usually required to do that is definitely no small feat. Not to mention we don't have evidence Shanks merely talked, nor do we have one which proved they fought.

Kaido choose to go head on with Luffy, but I also remember times where Luffy choose to go head on with Kaido when he could've dodged (and not to mention how frivolous Luffy has become in the beginning of the transformation which got him some hits from Kaido). The fight seems heavily scripted to a point where it makes me think the way they fight isn't even the point anymore (not nearly as much as they matter in Hunter x Hunter, I know they're all scripted, but still). From what appears to be misdecisions in their fight, I feel they sort of cancel out. At least, that's how I personally balance them out and let it go with the weird-decision parts.

We later see Luffy fight Kizaru in Gear 5, and he immediately pops out to become an old man the second his timer runs out. Also shown against Lucci. Yes Luffy is strong, yes even without Gear 5 he can hurt top tiers, but he isn't able to trade blows equally with a top tier on their level and take hits just as well as they do without Gear 5. The problem is Gear 5 leaves him an old man for at least 30 seconds, which means he will tap out first and he will lose first

As of right now, its shanks and luffy doesnt have the stamina nor the intelligence to keep up with shanks and cant win for now. Shanks has more strength and can last longer,m and he wins at mid-high diff leaning towards high

@Marcus Mattson Please stop doing the "Old man" thing. He is not becoming a old man after gear 5! It is his rubber. He is not aging like that. It's just his rubber is getting really pulled. He instantly goes back to normal after a bit.

We know he recovers at minimum after 32 seconds due to the train ride between his fight with Lucci and appearing in the Vegapunk lab. Problem is in that time he is very vulnerable as Saturn showed after Kizaru fought Luffy. Any opponent that can last a little while longer than Gear 5 without passing out will win against Luffy. The Yonko can do that.
