Personally, that marine soldier deserved it. Some of ya'll going to look at me crazy but that marine soldier left his team to die to save his own butt. That dude most likely built relations with a lot of marine soldiers and decided to dip out on them to save his own butt showing his back to his enemy.
On top of this, it was common for deserters to get executed in real life when they ran from war. I don't know how long he been in the navy, but he most likely signed up for the job and didn't get drafted so he knew the situation he was getting in when he signed up for a dangerous job like this and still stuck around until he couldn't handle the pressure of war.
Look I get it, anybody would be terrified in his shoes and would want to run as well, but if you willingly joined and pledged your allegiance to them vowing to risk your life for the things you guys believe in (which is stopping criminals from running amok and protecting the innocent), then you honestly deserve it in my opinion.
"In the Marine World, those who break the rules are scum, that's true...but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum!"
100% agree with you .
Even tho i would have done the same thing
I don't know what the hell your talking about. while I understand where akainu is coming from and justice and all, the marine solider did not just run away. he wanted to be there for his family. I'm assuming he didn't want the child without a father to grow up with. you did say one thing right but still going back to protect your loved ones is still a good thing. fighting aimlessly knowing that you would die is respect but going back for your family is still a good thing. that just shows the loyalty you have for something which in this case is your family. there's a second point I need to cover which is akainu, after hearing about his past he has kinda grown on me as a decent character. akainu did also destroy 2-3 ships for "justice" which not only killed his own allies he also killed thousands of lives in the process of what he thinks is justice. just know that random characters barely get touched upon so they get seen as bad people (some of them are actually bad people).
Bro couldve fired him or just gave him a traitor mark but nope kill the guy
Now I never said him going back for his family is a bad thing if that's what you're getting at, but that one dude fled war due to being a coward and being afraid to die knowing dang well what he signed up for. A marine's job is to protect the innocent even at the cost of your own life. Akainu himself even gave him a chance to return to battle which shows the little bit of heart he has despite him being ruthless. See, ya'll think like that due to the way we currently live. If we had a war today and a person was to flee battle, chances of being executed would be very slim since times back then were much more cruel, but back then, you're seen instantly as a traitor and a coward who only values his or her own life. Despite what you might say, they won't see it that way. I can see if you was drafted, but even then you still live in that certain state so you're going to be seen as a traitor who doesn't care about your country nonetheless at the end of the day.
I respect your opinion, but not everybody is going to see eye to eye. In Akainu's case, killing someone who abandons their post is a good thing since they basically said "forget ya'll, my life is more important than innocent civilians and other marines risking their lives on the line for what they believe in," despite knowing the risks when joining the marines, but others will think its wrong to execute someone for running from war.
To be fair they are fighting people like luffy so i kind of get where he is coming from
I know I agree 100% with you running away from duty abandoning your comrades is shameful
What do you think?
