Vice Admiral

A lot of people seem to underestimate the Vice Admirals yet always overestimate the Yonko Commanders even though the Vice Admirals are technically the counter to the Commanders.

Just like the Yonko Commanders, the Vice Admirals power is diverse. They are the closest rank to an Admiral and some of them are even powerful enough to be considered for the position like Garp, Momousagi and Chaton who everybody can agree are the three most powerful

So, Why do people look down on them? it took one second for Onigumo to place sea stone on Marco yet people never talk about that. They all faced the Whitebeard Commanders and were not harmed. Where would you place them in terms of power? Would you want to see more of them? I would

For the sake of this discussion, I'll be not including Garp for obvious reasons. In my opinion the Vice Admirals are underrated and criminally underused in the story. Whenever we talk about the Marines, we only bring in Garp, Sengoku and Admirals to the discussions and I understand they're the major powers on the Navy side, but I think the VA deserves some respect too. I mean they're the most prominent force of the Marines and only second in ranks to the Admirals themselves.

Now I know that the Vice Admirals has by far the largest power spectrum within the marine ranks, they all vary greatly in strength. You've people like Meynard who got defeated by Barto with relative ease and Smoker who has gone toe to toe against Law, to the og elites Vice Admirals like Momonga and Onigumo. Further ahead, you've straight up Admirals candidates like Gion and Tokikake. I think the general Vice Admirals are atleast a Yonko officers rank with Oven or Daifuku and the stronger ones at the Yonko 2nd/3rd commander level. On the side note, Coby isn't even a VA and he was sent to deal with Boa.

Top 10 Strongest Vice Admirals

1. Garp

2. Gion(Momousagi)

3. Tokikake(Chaton)

4. Tsuru

5. Vergo

6. Momonga

7. Smoker

8. Oniguma

9. Strawberry

I've heard a lot of people say "Vice Admirals are equal to Yonko Commanders", others have said that they are weaker. Both statements are wrong and here's why:

The one thing all Vice Admirals have in common is that they all know Haki but that's where the similarities end. Many people underestimate the Vice Admirals and I think Smoker and Maynard are to blame for that. One thing people forget is that Vice Admiral is the last rank you can achieve no matter how powerful you are if the three Admiral positions are already filled.

Due to this, the difference in power between them will be immense. You will have recently promoted ones at the bottom like Smoker, and you will have Admiral contenders at the top like Gion, Tokikake and Garp. Those at the top might be as powerful as an Admiral yet have to remain Vice Admiral until an Admiral promotes, retires, dies or quits. Prime examples are Gion and Tokikake, both were considered for the Admiral position yet did not achieved it due to the positions going to Ryokugyu and Issho. Do you think Sakazuki would even consider them if they did not have the power to carry that rank?

Now I'm gonna give you my Vice Admiral rankings based on power, note that this is mostly speculation due to how little we have seen of them, many will disagree and that's OK, it's just speculations after all:

Above Yonko Commander, including the 1st Commanders:

1. Garp - Considered for the Admiral position but refused

2. Gion/Tokikake - The two Vice Admirals considered to become Admirals during the time skip, therefore it's obvious that they are above the rest and are either at Admiral level or at least very close to it.

Around the level of the Yonko Top 3 Commanders:

1. Momonga/Dalmatian/Onigumo - Momonga and Dalmatian were playing around with pre time skip Luffy, Onigumo was fast enough to put sea stone on Marco before he noticed, note that this is quite a feat due to Onigumo himself being a DF user so the handling had to be precise. His speed may be close if not on par with Marco.

Around the level of the rest of the Yonko Commanders (Tobiroppo level):

1. Doberman - he's always standing around the likes of Momonga, Dalmatian and Onigumo so he should be close in power

2. Strawberry - The man fought Jinbe before being a Vice Admiral, he lost but since he got promoted I'm sure he's stronger than he was back then

3. Yamakaji - same as Doberman

4. Tsuru - maybe, who knows?

Below Yonko Commander but still close enough to have a chance:

1. Stainless - He held back other Officers being controlled by Doflamingo, the fact that Doflamingo picked Mozambia instead of him shows that perhaps, he would have been unable to control Stainless. He was last seen confronting Buggy, a Shichibukai

2. Comil - He seems pretty relaxed but the man has been around for a long time

3. Lacroix - He may be the strongest giant in the Marines since he gets the most screen time

The bottom, weakest Vice Admirals

1. John Giant - got taken down quickly by WB but let's face it, it's Whitebeard

2. Ronse - same as John Giant

3. Bastille - He's strong but was taken down easily by Sabo

4. Smoker - pure disappointment but he just got promoted though so it's understandable.

5. Maynard - got taken down by Bartolomeo

6. Mozambia - Doflamingo was easily controlling him with the strings

Anyway, as you can see the power of the Vice Admirals is vastly different from one another. Some are insanely powerful, some are weak.

So, I made this post because the original post we were talking about this on had nothing to do with what we were talking about. (Which is power scaling)

Topic: Power Scaling

First off, I’m gonna share my power scaling:

Yonko> Admiral> Yonko Commander> Vice Admiral=Warlord

Now the whole Vice Admiral=Warlord thing excludes certain people. Let’s start with the Vice Admirals. It excludes Garp (who is Admiral level imo), Tsuru (who is top tier vice admiral and she’s up to that point where I don’t know where she stands due to her information), maybe Gion (who I wouldn’t say is admiral level but I don’t know about her either), and etc. Now for Warlords. That excludes Mihawk (who is between Admiral and Commander Level), Doflamingo (who is commander level), Jinbe (I don’t know where he stands because we haven’t REALLY seen him in action but he’s for sure above warlord and vice admiral level), and BB (I don’t wanna talk about his scaling because it’s too much 🤦🏾‍♂️). Now for the rest which is Kuma (who isn’t commander level so he stays), Hancock (haven’t seen her full power and she’s not commander level so she stays), Buggy (not trying to tick people off so ima just say he stays), Weevil (who did destroy couple of Pirates groups or whatever and is similar to WB, BUT haven’t really seen his full power ig so he stays), Crocodile (who I think is equal to Smoker so he stays), Moria (😐😐 he stays), Law (I’m not saying he’s equal to Smoker but he did fight equally with him so stays), and that’s it.
