So in the anime, idk about the manga, but there is the iconic line that "The Devil himself comes all the way from hell to attend Mama's tea parties". SO does that mean that Christianity exists in this universe because the devil or Satan is a christian figure, also the name DEVIL FRUIT ITSELF REFERS TO THE DEVIL. So Christianity or some kind of religion like that is in the One Piece universe and is so prominent that most people know what it is.
What's on your mind?
Just got to the time-skip and i really don't want to watch the WHOLE arc, what episodes should I skip?
If there was a Non-canon Devil Fruit, whether it be from a Movie, OVA, Live Show, That you could make Canon, what would it be?
I would choose the More-More Fruit.
Alot of people complain about its pacing and it's justified but I think if the pace was normal not slow then there would be a lot of filler episodes.
What are your opinions on it ?
As many of you know, the 4Kids dub of One Piece is infamous among many anime fans for several reasons. The ridiculous amounts of edits and censorships, the corny dialogue, the removal of several key arcs and even characters, but arguably, the biggest reason for it's hate would have to be with the voice acting. Many have considered the voice cast of the 4Kids dub to be pretty mediocre, ranging from somewhat passable to total shit. But despite all that, they're actually some voice actors in the 4Kids dub that are not only good, but actually kind of even better than some of the Funimation voices.
I should probably get the most obvious one out of the way Marc Diraison, the voice of Roronoa Zolo. In the 4Kids Dub, the voices of the Straw Hats were pretty bad. They either sound pretty emotionless (Nami), had ridiculous unnecessary accents (Sanji and Robin), or just straight-up grating to listen to (Luffy). The only ones that were somewhat decent were Usopp and Chopper, to an extent though. But out of all the mediocre performances, only one stood out to be the best of them all, that was none other than Marc himself. His portrayal for Zolo has been consider many fans who hate the 4Kids dub to be the best. Hell, some have even said he's a better fit for the green-haired swordsman than Christopher Sabat....which I actually agree with.
No offense to Chris, okay maybe considering the whole controversy surrounding him and some of the other Funimation actors, but I'm not a big fan of his portrayal as Zolo. While him and Marc do get the feel of the character down right, what separates them would have to be their voices. With Chris, he makes Zolo sound too old. If you didn't know how old Zolo was prior to looking it up and listened to his Funimation voice first, you would think that the character was about 30-years old from how he sounded, even though the character is actually 19......at the beginning of the series of course. But with Marc, he actually makes Zolo sound like a young adult as oppose to a middle-aged man.
Same can be said for Portgaz D. Ace's voice as well. While Jesse Hooker's performance could use a little work, I find his voice more fitting than Travis Willingham. And like I said before, this is not me ragging on the Funimation voice actor. Travis is a really good voice actor, but just like Chris, he makes the character sound too old. With Jesse's performance, I can actually believe that Ace is 21-years old.
While our heroes' 4Kids voices are mostly crap, when it comes to the villains, they're (almost) always good!
Out of all the villains, Crocodile arguably has best voice in the whole dub. J. David Brimmer does a pretty good job at making him sound cool, mysterious and pretty intimidating. John Swasey does a really good job as the character as well, I have more of a soft spot for David's performance as Crocodile. Also I love how the 4Kids made him sound like a mob boss, which is surprisingly fitting for the character.
The same can be said for Eneru as well. While J. Michael Tatum does a great job as the sky lord, I also admire's Wayne Grayson's (aka Michaelango and Joey Wheeler) performance for the character as well. I love how he makes him sound like some sort of religious priest/nut, which is fitting for a dude who sees himself as God.
David Willis is also really good as both Buggy the Clown and Arlong. While his performance as Buggy is a little more goofier when compare to Mike MacFarland's, who takes more inspiration from Mark Hamill's portrayal as The Joker, it's still pretty good. Not to mention that laugh David does really sells his performance. I don't know why they decided to make Buggy's laugh sound kind of demonic, but it's so great. Same can be said for Arlong as well. While Chris Rager's performance beats David's out of the water (no pun intended), David still does a pretty solid job as the captain of the Fish-Man Pirates. I also like how they made his voice sound a little more gurgly, as if he spends a good chunk of his time in the water.
Marc Thompson does a pretty solid job as Don Krieg. Honestly, I like the more gruff and commando voice 4Kids gave more than the portrayal Andy Mullins did.
And I know I'm probably gonna get some flack for this but.......Matt Hoverman's performance for Wapol is fucking hilarious. I don't why, but the thick Russian accent he does for the character is really funny and strangely fitting as well.
But despite most of the villains having pretty good performances, just like the Straw Hats, they have some stinkers. Specifically, Alvida and Captain Kuro.
Just like with Robin, Alvida was given a ridiculous Southern accent because of her cowboy hat.
And while Gary Mack does a solid job at portraying the sophisticated side of Kuro, he really lacks at trying to make him sound intimidating too.
That's all for now. I want you all to know that this is my opinion. I'm not sure if you guys agree with me or not, but I don't wanna get any flack for bringing up the 4Kids Dub.
What kind of website or app legal (dub Jpn sub Eng) that u guys use to watch One Piece and the other anime?
Tell me please cuz i need it. Arigatou.
So now that Funimation has announced that they will be releasing One Piece Season 11 Voyage 1, and beyond on Blu-Ray, do you think that the DVD Collection sets will continue to be released on DVD beyond Collection 24? Let me know what you guys think.
The gorgeous colors, smooth dynamic animation, fresh upbeat soundtracks, it is all so good! One of the most gorgeous anime I have seen, which I did not think I would ever say of a One Piece Adaptation. They really elevated the quality tenfold from previous arcs.
Just saw the most recent episode, kaido vs Big mom was an incredible explosion of colors, just like a Yonko fight should be. I don't remember even the manga being this amazing!
I love one piece it has inspired my and my younger brothers, i love the ideas and the messages, morals and the creativeness it so amazing i wish this can continue on so others in the future generation can understand my feelings and emotions i felt whilst watching this
Watch One Piece Film: Gold
You guyz will know true power and bounty of straw hat crew 😎
Hey, I'm just wandering, has the anime reached Oden's backstory yet? Or how far are we until it gets there?
So i started watching very recently. I think it's really good as of so far...but gosh, why did the animation scare me so bad at first? Please ignore me. I get scared very easily, but I need to tell someone (random) this.
I'm on the Enies Lobby Arc and I already know what everything after that and also I know about stuff like Whole Cake, Wano, Sanji being a prince, etc.
Hey guys so i started One Piece on Netflix and i know there are more than 4 seasons so i was wondering if you guys have any websites i can watch the series are on thank you!!
Is there anywhere you guys know of to watch the funimation dub? I just watched some on netflix but they stopped after episode 130, I tried on funimation but apparently you need a subscription to watch it. Anywhere you guys know where I can catch it? (P.s please don't say kissanime either as I can't bare the ads and it's way too much of a risk of getting a virus, plus it isn't on xbox)
Now that Funimation has finally started releasing the One Piece Season 10 Voyage DVD sets (the latest one being Voyage 2), when do you think that Funimation will start releasing the Collection sets again? The last Collection set was Collection 23, so when do you think that they will start releasing the next one, Collection 24? Or have they just stopped making the Collection sets all together, and are just mainly focusing on the Voyage sets? Let me know what you think.
So I was just rewatching one piece like I did many times. And I somewhat miss the old animation sequences that were there until the Wano arc. The grunge and everything, I think, defined One Piece's era and I somewhat miss that. The animations in Wano are much more superior and smoother compared to the previous, but, One Piece had its own...vibe to it.
Right now, I’m at the part where Nami is sick and they go to Winter Island in Grand Line to find a doctor, and so far these 3 down below are my favorite scenes from the show 🔥🔥 no matter where you at in One Piece, what are your 3 favorite scenes ???
Luffy climbs and reaches top of the mountain to save Nami & Sanji
Luffy, Zoro, Sanji & Usopp walk to Arlong Park
Red Foot Zeff reveals he gave all his food to Sanji
Do u guys like the new animation style in wano and do u think it will stay like this till the series is done (sorry for English)
Just finished Season 1 of One Piece, got a long way to go but so far this my favorite character 🔥🔥 his back story is insane 👁
