Alabasta Saga[]

Sakura[]

Sakura Infobox

Sakura

Sakura (桜 atau 櫻 Sakura?)

The Golden Belfry was knocked up by Giant Jack, and resides on a cloud nearby.[11]

Kona Tree[]

Berkas:Kona Tree Infobox.png

Kona Tree

Kona Tree (コナの木 Kona no Ki?) is a type of tree found on Jaya and other areas.[12]

Kona Trees are tall and possess thin trunks and leafy branches.[12]

Within the bark of this tree is a substance known as Conine (コニーネ Konīne?). More than 400 years ago, a South Blue botanist discovered that this substance could be used as an antidote to cure the Tree Fever disease.[13]

On Jaya, Mont Blanc Noland was able to use the Conine from a local Kona Tree to to treat the infected Shandia people.[14]

Oda confirmed in SBS Volume 32 that "Conine" and "Kona Tree" are inspired by Quinine (キニーネ Kinīne?) found in the bark of Cinchona (キナの木 Kina no Ki?) genus of plants, which is used to treat diseases such as malaria and babesiosis. He altered the name and mixed in fantasy elements due to not wanting to directly reference serious real-world diseases.[15]

Interestingly, a chemical known as Conine does in fact exist; an alternate spelling for the poisonous alkaloid in Conium maculatum, also known as poison hemlock.

Treasure Tree Adam

Treasure Tree Adam (宝樹アダム Hōju Adamu?) is a mythical tree with wood that is considered the strongest, highest-quality wood in the world. Its immense rarity makes it highly valuable, being considered a great treasure. Occasionally, the wood is sold on the black market, at a very high price given its value. Franky managed to purchase some for Berry200,000,000.[17] It is called "Jewel Tree Adam" in the English localization.

Summit War Saga[]

Yarukiman Mangrove[]

The Yarukiman Mangrove (ヤルキマン・マングローブ Yarukiman Mangurōbu?) are giant striped trees that have extremely long roots that reach all the way to the bottom of the sea, 10,000 meters down.[18] Seventy nine of these trees make up the entire Sabaody Archipelago; so far, this is the only place they are known to grow.[19] They are called the "Hustle Muscle Mangrove" in the English Dub.

Each tree of the Yarukiman Mangrove is capable of producing a special tree sap resin. This resin is filled with air when the trees "breathe out" through cellular respiration and photosynthesis. This results in the resin forming bubbles that float through the air.[19] The resin bubbles are solid enough that someone can jump on them without popping them, however they are also completely permeable, allowing a person to ride in or store things inside of them without the bubble popping when they pass through.

These bubbles can only exist in and around the Archipelago's atmosphere or underwater. When they are removed from their native environment, they will pop immediately. Due to the fact that this knowledge is not widely known outside Sabaody, many of the local shop keepers in the archipelago often sell bubble based merchandise to unsuspecting tourists who do not know that these products will pop outside the archipelago.[20]

The World Nobles use such bubbles as air helmets during their visit in the Archipelago, in order to protect themselves from "breathing the same air as commoners", while also taking advantage of the bubbles permeable nature, such as by eating ice cream though it, something that couldn’t be done through a regular helmet.[rujukan]

The resin is also used for Coating ships, allowing them to submerse to incredible depths and move freely under water.[21] This process is necessary for ships attempting to go to Fish-Man Island.[22]

The tree's name is a pun on the Japanese phrase, "Yaru Ki Manman", which means "to be pumped up" or "motivated".

Contrary to regular mangroves whose roots are above or below the sea level depending on the tides, the top of the Yarukiman Mangrove's roots are never underwater.

Body Mushroom[]

Berkas:Body Mushroom.png

Luffy covered in Body Mushrooms.

Body Mushroom (カラダカラキノコガハエルダケ Karada kara kinoko ga haeru dake?) (literally meaning "Mushrooms Growing from the Body Shroom") is a species of mushroom that grows on Amazon Lily.

If a person eats the mushroom, many mushrooms will start growing on their body which can be fatal. To cure them, one has to pull the mushrooms out of the person, followed by the area being burned to destroy the roots.

Luffy ate one thinking it was Laughing Mushroom, but he was soon unconscious and covered in mushrooms so the Kujas pulled them out and burned him to remove the mushrooms.[23]

It is called the Body Parasite Mushroom in the Viz localization and the Parasite Mushroom in the Funimation subs.

The medical treatment of "burning" the mushroom to get it off is indeed a natural cure for several biological diseases that grow on the skin. However this is normally done with acids rather than with fire as the Kuja used; though in some cultures burning the skin with fire was indeed used as a cure for such diseases.

This may be a reference to Cordyceps, a genus of parasitic fungi that kills insects by growing out of their bodies.

Laughing Mushroom[]

The Laughing Mushroom (ワライダケ Warai-dake?) is a mushroom that induces the consumer to laugh happily out loud. It is perfect for those who are depressed and wish for a good time.

Anger Mushroom[]

The Anger Mushroom is a mushroom that causes the consumer bouts of rage. An effective counter to this effect is eating a Laughing Mushroom.

Stomach Baron[]

Berkas:Boin Archipelago Infobox.png

Stomach Baron

Stomach Baron (ストマックバロ Sutomakku Baron?) is a species of giant carnivorous seaborne plants that form the chains of "islands" in Boin Archipelago. Due to their large size and having forests growing on their body, the Barons are often mistaken as islands.[25]

The forests have "plants" that are made of a variety of highly nutritional and delicious food in the middle of the island (which is actually the "mouth" of the Barons) luring prey (including sea kings) to venture there before the Barons consume them.[26]

The concept of the Stomach Baron is very similar to the Gourmetica insularis described in the 1999 novel „Die 13½ Leben des Käpt’n Blaubär (キャプテン・ブルーベアの13と1/2の人生 Kyaputen burūbea no 13 to 1/2 no jinsei?) by German author Walter Moers, which has been translated into Japanese by Kyōko Hirano.[27]

Weather Ball[]

Weather Ball (天候ウェザーボール Wezā Bōru?) is the most important invention on Weatheria. It grows in a garden, and has a similar appearance to a snow-globe with what appears to be various forms of weather inside.[28][29]

Nami stole one of these inventions and it is later seen when she returns to Weatheria and asks Haredas how the Weather Balls work and if they can be turned into a weapon. Haredas is horrified at this thought and tells Nami not to say such scary things since the Weather Balls are capable of causing chaos around the world.[29]

The Weather Balls can also be used to store little pieces of clouds in them. When a few Weather Balls with clouds are combined, a big cloud is formed. The cloud can also shoot lightning. Nami used such a feature to attack the Fake Straw Hat Crew, launching a miniature lightning storm to electrocute them,[30] thus turning the Weather Balls into a weapon that she asked Haredas about two years ago.

Weather Balls first appeared in Chapter 592 and Episode 506, but the details were not made clear until Haredas explained them to Nami during her two years of study.[28]

Elegant Sunflowers (エレガントサンフラワー Ereganto Sanfurawā?)[33] are luminescent sunflowers, which have seen in Dressrosa. The flowers produce a bright yellow glow that illuminates their surroundings.[33] They first appear in Chapter 738 and Episode 671.

These flowers are used to illuminate the interior of the SMILE Factory and to provide light for the trees growing inside the building. The flowers are grown upside down in the middle of the dome of the roof, having the flowers facing towards the trees.[33]

Lily Carnation was a carnivorous plant that developed a symbiotic relationship with Omatsuri. Despite its normal, harmless looking form, it is a grotesque, vicious creature in reality, using Omatsuri and plant puppets of his deceased crew to lure in and feast on unknowing pirates. It first appeared in Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island.

Daft Green[]

Daft Green (ダフトグリーン Dafuto Gurīn?) is a species of a tree that exists in the flying archipelago, Merveille. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Strong World.[34]

This tree releases toxic spores that can kill both animals and people, although animals can notice it by its strong smell before getting infected. After being infected, the person starts to develop green skin spots. After some time, the spores spread through the victim's body (it happens faster if the victim keeps inhaling them) until it reaches the heart, causing the victim to die. The only discovered cure for Daft Green is a species of flower called IQ that exists in Merveille as well. Both Xiao's grandmother and Nami were infected by its spores.

When arranged well, the daft green can serve as protective barrier. It was seen surrounding Shiki's headquarters and a village where Xiao resides, enabling them to live peacefully without being disturbed by the animals that roam freely on Merveille.

Berkas:Daft Green Infobox.png

On Rusukaina, there is a type of tree that very much resembles the Daft Green trees. Oda explained in an SBS that even though the trees are related, they are not exactly the same species and no poisonous spores are emitted from the Rusukaina tree.[35]

Both the Daft Green trees and the trees found on Rusukaina heavily resemble members of the Adansonia genus of trees, commonly known as baobab trees.

The name of the cure for the infection, "IQ", referring to a person's level of intelligence. "Daft" can be used to describe someone who is foolish.

A green tinge in the skin is sometimes associated with nausea and sickness. A physically ill person is said to look "green around the gills".

IQ[]

IQ (I.Q. Ai Kyū?) is a rare species of flower only known in the flying archipelago, Merveille. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Strong World. Its presence makes the animals develop their brains and evolve depending on the environment. This plant was later used by Dr. Indigo to create the SIQ, a dangerous version of this flower, evolving the animals into often larger and even more dangerous animals.[36] IQ is also the only cure to the poisonous spores released by the Daft Green plant.

"I.Q." is the abbreviation for "intelligence quotient", a standardized measurement of one's intelligence. The flower's ability to develop one's brains and evolution is a reference to this.

Drowsy Mushroom[]

Berkas:Drowsy Mushroom.png

Drowsy Mushroom

The Drowsy Mushroom (へたれダケ Hetare-dake?) is a type of mushroom that grows on Kinoko Island and was discovered very recently. Anyone who eats it will briefly lose consciousness. When they come to, they will not have any motivation to do anything. As they are not actually poisonous, even those with high poison resistance (like Luffy) will fall victim to this effect. Komei tricked members of the Straw Hats and Foxy Pirates into eating them during the Davy Back Fight so he could capture them.[37]

Rebound Mushroom[]

Berkas:Rebound Mushroom.png

Rebound Mushroom

The Rebound Mushroom (もどるダケ Modoru-dake?) is a type of mushroom which also grows on Kinoko Island. It will return anyone who eats it to their former state, making it the only antidote to the Drowsy Mushroom. Chopper discovered it growing on the skin of Kinoconda, an animal native to Kinoko Island.[37]

Video Games[]

Surprised Mushroom[]

The Surprised Mushroom (びっくりキノコ Bikkuri kinoko?) is a mushroom species that appears in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. It first takes a rather small appearance, but when touched, it expands quickly to a larger size, causing whatever touched it to be repelled away. In the game, it is used to jump on and launch players up to high places. Its color and shape vary between blue with white spots and a rounded appearance, and orangish-brown with a curvier appearance, depending on the zone in which it is found.

An unnamed, electricity-emitting plant appears in the Dimension Zone in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. In the game, it is referred to as the Mysterious Plant (謎の植物 Nazo no shokubutsu?). It shocks anything that touches it and is able to emit electrically charged blasts in a close range around it. Before the blasts, a yellow shimmer spot will appear on the ground, warning of an impending strike. It behaves similarly to Enel's El Thor. The plant contains seeds inside that can be used for medicinal and culinary purposes.

The Awa Awa Mushroom (アワアワキノコ Awa Awa Kinoko?, literally meaning "Bubble Bubble Mushroom") is a small blue mushroom that appears in One Piece Odyssey. It grows, among other places, in the Lake Shore Cave on Waford. When they're dissolved in water, they create carbonation. Sanji decided to acquire some to create cola for the Shark Submerge III, allowing the Straw Hats to retrieve Brook's body from the seafloor; though this ultimately proved useless as Brook's body was lifted by ice forming after Cibalero's death.[38] Its name is localized as Bubble-Bubble Mushroom in the English version of One Piece Odyssey.

Bitter-Bitter Gourd[]

The Bitter-Bitter Gourd (ニガニガソウ Niganiga Sou?) is a gourd found, among other places, in Dressrosa. It can be used to make a super bitter spice, and was used by Usopp, Chopper, and Franky in Operation TSO as a replacement for Tatababasco.[38] Its name is localized as Bitter-Bitter Herb in the English version of One Piece Odyssey.
