Portgas D. Ace tên thật Gol D. Ace có biệt danh Ace Hỏa Quyền là Đội trưởng đội 2 của Băng Hải tặc Râu Trắng.Cha là vua hải tặc Gol D. Roger, mẹ là Portgas D. Rouge (cả hai đều đã chết). Ace là anh em kết nghĩa từ bé của Luffy, Sabo.Anh cũng từng có 1 băng Hải tặc của riêng mình trước khi quy thuận Râu Trắng
Anh đã được Monkey D. Garp nhận nuôi theo ý muốn của Roger trước khi anh sinh ra.
Ngoại hình
Portgas D. Ace tuy không cùng chung máu mủ ruột thịt với người em trai nuôi Luffy, nhưng ngoại hình hai anh em khá giống nhau. Tuy nhiên, anh cao hơn và cũng cơ bắp hơn cậu.
Anh có dáng vẻ thể thao và trông khá trẻ con với những đốm tàng nhang trên mặt, và có thói quen nhướn lông mày trái của mình khi hoài nghi. Khuôn mặt anh gần giống cha ruột Gol D. Roger khi còn trẻ và chưa để ria mép. Đặc điểm dễ nhận dạng nhất của anh là những hình xăm trên cơ thể. Ace có một hình xăm lớn mang biểu tượng của băng hải tặc Râu Trắng trên lưng - hai chiếc xương chéo màu tím phía sau đầu lâu màu tím với bộ râu trắng. Ngoài ra, Ace cũng có một hình xăm với dòng chữ ASCE theo chiều dọc và ký tự S được gạch chéo, hẳn là để tưởng nhớ tới người bạn Sabo thời nhỏ(Do anh tưởng Sabo đã chết).
Tính cách
- Ace thông minh, lịch sự và nói chung là dễ chịu hơn Luffy, điều đó khiến băng hải tặc Mũ Rơm đặt câu hỏi liệu anh ta có thực sự liên quan đến thuyền trưởng của họ không
- Là con trai của Roger, tuy vậy anh lại không nhận Gol D. Roger mà coi Râu Trắng,một cựu địch thủ của Roger, là người cha duy nhất của mình
- Mặc dù Ace tuân theo tín ngưỡng trung thành với những người thân cận với anh ta, chẳng hạn như nỗ lực quá mức để giải cứu Luffy khỏi Bluejam hoặc săn lùng Râu đen để trả thù Thatch, anh ta không ở trên bằng cách sử dụng các phương pháp ngầm để chiến thắng đôi khi. Sức mạnh và khả năng
- Là chỉ huy của sư đoàn 2 Băng Hải tặc Râu Trắng, Ace có quyền đối với cấp dưới
- Bên cạnh sức mạnh được ban cho bởi Trái ác quỷ mà anh ta tiêu thụ, Ace còn sở hữu sức mạnh thể chất và sức chịu đựng to lớn mà anh ta đạt được từ quá trình huấn luyện cực kỳ nghiêm ngặt từ nhỏ.
- Thời thơ ấu, trước khi anh có được Mera Mera no Mi, Ace đã có thể đánh bại Luffy, bất chấp khả năng Gomu Gomu no Mi của Luffy chưa được huấn luyện.
