Biera is a character from the fourth movie. He was the stoker for the boiler on Gasparde's ship, the Salamander. He was forced to take this job to protect himself and Adelle Bascùd (who calls him "Grandpa").[1]

Appearance[]

Biera is an short old man with a pale skin, a bald head, a white mustache, and white eyebrows. He also has a pink nose and sports a brown shirt, black suspenders, brown gloves, and brown boots.[1]

Personality[]

Biera is a very caring old man, since he saved Adelle during the attack on their island after her family was killed and protected her from Gasparde's crew. He is also quite brave, as he blew up the boiler of Gasparde's ship to harm the pirate and his crew. He cares greatly for Adelle and raised her as her father figure.[1]

History[]

Past[]

During the Gasparde Pirates attack to Elena, Biera saved Adelle Bascùd from drowning when she was drifting downriver. He took her to the Salamander to take care of her, but the ship was seized by Gasparde and his crew. In order to stay alive and protect Adelle, he became one of Gasparde's workers, operating the steamship's boiler.

Sky Island Saga[]

Dead End Adventure[]

At the start of the movie, he is stricken sick, prompting Anaguma to leave the Salamander to try to help him. He came across Shuraiya Bascùd and learned that Anaguma left to buy medicine for him with pirate bounties, shocked and saddened by the thought of his dear assistant killing someone for his well-being. When Shuraiya told him his past story, Biera realized that Shuraiya and Adelle are connected. As Monkey D. Luffy fought Gasparde, he blew up the boiler on the ship, causing it to sink and was thought dead.

However, Biera managed to survive (by putting lifesavers all over his body), as well as rescue Luffy and Shuraiya after Gasparde's defeat. He then informed Shuraiya that he rescued a little girl from a river eight years ago who could only remember her name: Adelle Bascùd, Shuraiya's sister whom Shuraiya thought was killed when Gasparde's crew destroyed their town. Biera convinced Shuraiya to accept her, despite his brutal life as a bounty hunter, and Shuraiya promised to start a new life for them.[2]
