Buzz is a stout dog with orange-colored fur, a large body and slim legs. He has a perpetual sad expression on his wide face, with a scar on his right brow, just above his right eye. His nose is blue, and he has incredibly long ears, reaching down to the ground; his slim tongue is just as long. Around Buzz’s neck is a distinctive and elaborate pair of goggles, which he wears like a collar.[1]

Personality[]
Buzz is quite obedient, since he followed his master’s order to steal Luffy’s hat. He even goes so far to complete his master's order to fly through a Marine fleet, a group of Sea Kings, and fight the famed Monkey D. Luffy in a volcanic region and a Marine base.[1]

Despite being old, Buzz is still quite strong, able to clash with Luffy for a short while.
Buzz has eaten the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Eagle, a Zoan-class Devil Fruit. This allows him to transform into an eagle and a dog-eagle hybrid, enhancing his animal senses and reflexes by adding those of an eagle's. This also grants him the ability of flight.[1]

Buzz was the pet of the captain of the Schneider Pirates for a long time, having grown old with his master Schneider along their voyage.
One Piece 3D: Straw Hat Chase[]
One night, Schneider disbanded his crew on a certain island due to his bad health condition, wanting to spend his remaining days in hiding. Buzz was the only member of his crew who refused to leave him, chasing him despite his pleas for him to find a new master. In order for his dog to go away, Schneider gave him a very hard mission, to find the Straw Hat Pirates, who had been spotted in the area, and steal Luffy's famous hat, hoping it would be too difficult for him to even try. However, Buzz completed his task that same night, using his Devil Fruit powers to fly to the Thousand Sunny and snatch the hat away while the crew slept. Usopp noticed him as he flew away, but did not pay him any mind.
The next day he went back to Schneider's ship to show him the straw hat, arriving right after Usopp and Chopper were carrying Schneider to the Shark Sumerge to treat his illness, then he announced the entire crew that stole the hat and they all came towards Buzz at full speed. They chased Buzz through an iceberg and they came across a large amount of marine warships where Usopp created a huge smoke screen and gave them the chance to continue chasing Buzz who just flew past the warships. The chase led them into a cave, off a waterfall and into a nest of sea kings. Luffy left the Sunny to keep chasing Buzz on his own and quickly corneded him on a volcanic region, so Buzz turned into his hybrid form, a huge winged dog, to fight him. They clashed throughout the area until they fell in the middle of a Marine shipyard, giving the marines a perfect chance to trap them in a seastone cage, while the straw hat fell into the base commander's hands.

The Straw Hat Pirates came to the rescue shortly afterwards with a remoresful Schneider who promised to take care of Buzz as he didn't want him to get hurt because of him. The pirates defeated the marines and Buzz helped Luffy take back his hat.
Back on the Sunny, it turned out the reason of Schneider's sickness was him unknowingly swallowing a fork while eating spagetti, which pierced his stomach and caused him to cough blood. He had spit it out while Chopper treated him, so he was back in good health condition. Buzz and Schneider bid farewell to the Straw Hats, planning to continue their own voyage.

He and Schneider are part of the attendants at the Pirates Festival. He briefly appears in the crowd next to Schneider, who eats at a table while stroking his head.[2]
Trivia[]
Though non-canon, Buzz is the third animal to have eaten a Zoan Devil Fruit behind Pierre and Tony Tony Chopper.
This makes Buzz the first non-canon animal to eaten a Devil Fruit.
