Images

This category contains the image sorting categories.

Each picture must be categorized in all of the following four sorting categories:

• Category:Images by Content: Used to describe what is on the picture.
• Category:Images by License: Sorts images according to their license.
• Category:Images by Source‎: States the source of the picture, for example, the media it was taken from.
• Category:Images by Use‎: Describes what purpose the image has on the wiki, for example how it is used or where it's placed on an article.

That is to say, each picture is supposed to be in at least one subcategory of each one of the aforementioned categories. (Note however that some subcategories are common to several sorting categories.)

In addition, an optional sorting category, Category:Images by Type, gives additional information about the type or format of the image. Its subcategories should be added to any picture that fits their description.

Last, Category:Images by Status is not part of the regular image categorization system, as it only gives maintenance information about images. This information is added via special templates, or as a side effect of the Category:Images by Type categorization.
