"Moonflower" O-Cho is a yakuza boss who was in charge of the Ringo region in Wano Country. She was imprisoned in Udon by the Beasts Pirates, but was freed when Luffy took over the prison.[1][2]
Appearance[]
Cho is an average-sized woman with fair skin and dark indigo hair that is arranged in an exaggerated Tōrōbin Shimada that resembles a butterfly, but also has some of her curly hair loose and covering her right eye. She has simple lavender flower tattoos on her right shoulder and upper arm. She also appears to wear mascara and lipstick.
She wears a white furisode with burning mitsudomoe designs on the sleeves and along the bottom. She keeps her right arm out of her sleeve, letting it hang loose on her obi. She also binds her breasts with sarashi.[1]
In the anime, Cho has her right arm in her sleeve, keeping her tattoo and chest bindings hidden. However, she later has her arm outside her sleeve as she does in the manga.

Personality[]
Being a yakuza boss, she had the respect of her followers from Ringo, as well as the other yakuza bosses of her time, being able to work alongside them.[2] She seems to highly respect Hyougoro and would threaten those who offend the elder as well as obey his commands, showing that she values respect and expects others to do the same.[1]

Cho had enough strength to hold down a struggling Luffy so he could be punished for his rudeness.[1]

Cho wielded a katana during the Onigashima raid, so it can be assumed she is proficient with it.

At a certain point in her past, she became the yakuza boss of the Ringo region of Wano Country. After the Beasts Pirates took over the country, she opposed them and ended up in the Prisoner Mine in Udon.[1][2]

After Monkey D. Luffy led a rebellion in the prison, Cho was freed with the rest of the prisoners. The yakuza bosses later approached Hyougoro to show him respect, and upon seeing Luffy's casual way of addressing Hyougoro, they tried to punish Luffy, only to be stopped by Hyougoro. The bosses then let Luffy go and left to recruit their followers from across Wano.[1]
Cho later joined the Weapon Recovery Squad to collect the hidden weapons in the Ringo region. While there, she read Shimotsuki Yasuie's last message and praised his cleverness after deciphering the message.[3] Two days before the raid on Onigashima, Cho and the other yakuza bosses contacted Kin'emon and informed him of the number of allies they had recruited.[4]
On the night before the raid, the Beasts Pirates destroyed the bridges linking Wano's regions, supposedly preventing Cho and her group from going to the meeting place.[5]
The rebels gathered at Habu Port and on the day of the Fire Festival, they joined the Nine Red Scabbards at Tokage Port on a fleet of ships.[6] After the alliance infiltrated Onigashima, Cho received a Beasts Pirates disguise from Kin'emon and joined him in the eastern forces.[7] The group reached the Pleasure Hall owned by Black Maria, and as they traversed through the area, they quickly hid themselves when Big Mom looked outside from one of the nearby buildings.[8]
As the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance began their all-out war on the Beasts Pirates, Cho and her group came to Eustass Kid and Killer's aid.[9] While fighting the Beasts Pirates at the Live Floor, the yakuza leaders planned to go after the Tobiroppo.[10]
As Tony Tony Chopper began mass-producing the antidote for the Ice Oni virus, the yakuza bosses volunteered to guard him.[11]
After the Raid of Onigashima ended in the Alliance's victory, the yakuza bosses took part in the celebration of the liberation of Wano, partying alongside the fellow citizens.[12]
Final Saga[]
Oni Child Yamato's Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage[]
Many weeks after the raid, Cho returned to Ringo and accompanied the new daimyo of the region, Kikunojo. When Yamato, Page One, and Ulti visited during their travels across Wano, Cho insisted that Yamato visit a shrine honoring the heroic pirate Kouzuki Moria, who had been born in the West Blue but raised in Ringo and had died defending his village from Kaidou. Cho, Yamato, and Kikunojo paid their respects at the grave marker, while Page One watched Ulti build a Kaidou-shaped snowman.[13]
Translation and Dub Issues[]
Her epithet Yūgao (夕顔?) literally means "evening face". It can refer to two different plants in Japan: a specific variety of calabash (bottle gourd) or Ipomoea alba (moonflower), which is more properly known as Yorugao (夜顔?). Yūgao is also a nickname for a female character who appears in The Tale of Genji.

- Her name, "Cho" (蝶?), is the Japanese word for butterfly and her hair is shaped like one.
- Her epithet is derived from the fact that she is skilled in night-time battles.[14]
