Cross Epoch is a collaborative one-shot between Eiichiro Oda and Akira Toriyama. It is a crossover story featuring characters from both One Piece and Dragon Ball.

Summary[]

In a certain country, Mr. Satan has just been crowned king. A party rages to celebrate, as Krillin and Chopper watch on, confused at how he suddenly became king. They suddenly realize the cause, and announce the temporary closing of their Kuri-Chopa Sea Train Coaster and rush off in a hurry.

Out in space, Nami and Bulma rob a spaceship, making off with bags of zeni. Nami urges Bulma to hurry if they want to make it somewhere in time, and the two girls speed off.

The police officers Sanji and Master Roshi drive through a desert when they receive a report of two space bandits committing a robbery, but Sanji hangs up, stating they're in the middle of something. Roshi questions why he would turn down a job, but Sanji just reminds him there are beautiful women where they're going, so Roshi forgives him.

An airship bearing a jolly roger flies through the air, captained by Vegeta. One of his subordinates, Robin, confirms something, citing the previous day's blackout, as Usopp declares that he wants to go. While Trunks points out that they've been challenged to a duel by the Dr. Gero Sky Pirates, Captain Vegeta just cancels the duel, and authorizes travel to the event.

Zoro and Piccolo stand on a snowy island, lost with two lion-faced reindeer. They spot the Kuri-Chopa Sea Train Coaster in the distance and hop aboard in an attempt to hijack it, quickly pivoting to an attempt to buy tickets when they realize who owns it.

Goku flies over a jungle island when he notices Luffy running along it. He offers to give him a ride, but Luffy says he wants to run there since he's on an adventure, only to fall into a cliff. Worried since he can't fly, Goku calls for Kinto'un for Luffy to use. As they fly away from the island, they run into the Tettiri 55, with the Pilabuggy Villain Alliance aboard. The Villain Alliance challenges them to a fight, but the Tettiri 55's papier-mâché cover is easily destroyed by a combined Kamehame Gomu Gomu no Bazoo'ha.

One Piece and Dragon Ball's main characters together at Shenron's party

As the Villain Union tries to escape, they run into Captain Vegeta's pirate ship, and he hits them with a ki blast. They crash down to the surface, nearly landing on the Kuri-Chopa Sea Train Coaster, but are deflected by a combined backside strike by Zoro and Piccolo. The Tettiri 55 lands in the desert as Sanji and Roshi drive past, deciding to ignore it in favor of seeing the beautiful women.

The narrator suddenly explains that when the sky goes dark, Shenron is granting someone's wish, revealing how Mr. Satan suddenly became king. The sky blackout also acted as a signal to Shenron's friends to come to his food island for a party, as the various parties all arrive. At 3 PM, Goku and Luffy are the last to arrive, and Shenron welcomes them.

It's something we had to please fans of both works with so we proceeded with attention to every little detail as we drew it. Seems I'm the one who had the most fun with it.

Trivia[]

Pandaman in Cross Epoch

Pandaman

  • In the colored pages, the Dragon Ball characters seem to be colored based on the anime's colors rather than the manga's typical colors, despite Akira Toriyama's collaboration with Cross Epoch (though it should be noted that the manga itself is not always consistent with character colors, and has used the anime's colors in the past).
    • Bulma's hair is colored blue-green instead of purple
    • Shenron is colored green instead of blue
    • Additionally, Trunks' hair is colored pink, despite it being purple in both the manga and anime
  • Pandaman makes a cameo in the chapter, as a citizen celebrating Mr. Satan's ascension to king.
  • Zoro's samurai outfit bears a bird-shaped crest heavily resembling that of the Kouzuki Family.
