G-5 is a Marine branch that is located in the New World, near the Red Line. It was first mentioned by Aokiji after the Battle of Marineford and according to him, it is full of problems. Smoker requested a transfer to this branch in order to "keep his targets close".^[1]

The base is very close to the Red Line since Vice Admiral Smoker and Captain Tashigi were the first to intercept the pirates fleeing Fishman Island and entering New World.^[2]

It is said that the Marines of this branch are insane, cruel, and merciless who stick needles into pirates, feed them to sharks, or use them for kindling campfire. Although this is considered just rumors by some pirates, it was proven when some of the Marines lit one of the captured pirate on fire to torture him for fun. They are known for not following the orders of their superiors, however, they seem to obey Smoker. They do not wear the full formal Marine uniform and they act flirtatious toward their female superior, Captain Tashigi.
