Personality[]
Gab is a kind person at heart and a little timid. He hates bugs and ghosts.[2]
Abilities and Powers[]
Gab is a Senior Officer of the Red Hair Pirates, giving him authority over lower-ranking members of the crew.[3] Gab is a powerful individual himself, considering how Marine Commodore Brannew described the whole crew as having a high average of bounties.
He is capable of generating air blades from his mouth through a roar-like technique. He can also use paralysis.[2]
History[]
Summit War Saga[]
Marineford Arc[]
Gab showed up alongside his captain and fellow officers of the crew in order to stop the Summit War of Marineford, ready to jump into action if the fighting continued.[1]
Whole Cake Island Saga[]
From the Decks of the World: The 500,000,000 Man Arc[]
After the timeskip, Gab and some members of the Red Hair Pirates were at the ruins of a certain island. He was happy to read the newspaper showing the Straw Hat Pirates' new bounties.[4]
Wano Country Saga[]
Wano Country Arc[]
A week after the Raid on Onigashima, the Red Hair Pirates sailed to Wano Country. Gab and the rest of the officers were disappointed when Shanks said it was not the right time to meet Luffy again. Gab explained that Bartolomeo, who seemed to be an ally of Straw Hat, had burned their Jolly Roger to replace it with that of the Straw Hat Pirates. Shanks decided to resolve that matter so as not to affect his credibility and then announced that the time had come to take the One Piece.[5]

Trivia[]
- He is the only officer of the Red Hair Pirates who cannot be identified among the crew that stayed at Foosha Village in Chapter 1, the cover of Chapter 41, or the original anime adaptations.
- He is eventually depicted among the crew twelve years ago in One Piece Film: Red and the Uta's Past Arc.
- He resembles the character Eldoraggo from One Piece: The Movie in terms of his appearance (fangs, lips, mane-like hair) and the ability to shoot powerful blasts from his mouth by roaring.
- When Gab was first named in SBS Volume 101, his "Howling" epithet was written as "ハウリング・ガブ", with an interpunct and no quotation marks, giving the impression that it was his surname.[3] This was initially still the case in One Piece Film: Red promotional material.[10] However, subsequent content such as Gab's Film: Red poster and Eiichiro Oda's concept art in Volume 4000000000 write "Howling" with quotation marks.[2] Episode 1109 would later again show his name in English as "Howling Gabu", as if it was his surname.[11]
