About a month ago, Gulf took on a new big-time job, confident it would be his big break. However, it was a trap set up by a mafia group, and Gulf was kidnapped.
He spent the next month in the mafia's hideout in the sewers, forced to make fake jewels alongside other kidnapped jewelers.

Gulf was trapped in the sewers when the Straw Hat Pirates attacked the mafia group, intent on rescuing him. Once he was reunited with Emily, he thanked the pirates for saving him.
