Kakunoshin is a samurai who allied with the Kouzuki Family.[3] After waiting 20 years for the return of the Nine Red Scabbards, he affiliated with the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance to raid Onigashima.[1]

Appearance[]

Kakunoshin is an adult man of average height with short, light brown hair, thick eyebrows, and long sideburns. He wears a blue yukata with a light blue diamond design on its collar and a yellow sash, as well as a dark blue overcoat.

It is implied he has an ankle tattoo of a reverse crescent moon, symbolizing his alliance to the Kouzuki Family. In the anime, this tattoo is explicitly shown.[4]

Personality[]

Kakunoshin is loyal to the Kouzuki Family, and was willing to join their resistance immediately.[1][4] He shows a particular dislike of Kurozumi Orochi, and wanted revenge against him personally.[3]

He appears to be fairly charismatic, and naturally took the lead on multiple occasions during the Raid on Onigashima.[5][6]

Relationships[]

Wife[]

Kakunoshin is married to an unknown woman. During Kaidou's occupation of Wano, she lived in Ringo.[7]

Kakunoshin Stabbing Goki

Kakunoshin stabs Goki with his naginata.

Kakunoshin wields both a naginata[5] and a sword,[6] and appears to be proficient with both.

When fighting Goki in the anime, he primarily used his naginata to thrust forward.[5]

History[]

Wano Country Saga[]

Wano Country Arc[]

Kakunoshin was walking through the Flower Capital when he passed either Usopp, Shachi, Bepo, or Penguin and was handed a piece of paper secretly signaling the Kouzuki Family's revolt.[1]

Kakunoshin was ammong those arrested thrown in the Rasetsu Town Prison House for conspiring to defy Orochi; he was one of the last samurai to be arrested, and was violently thrown to the ground inside the cell with his face bloodied.[4] In prison, he and the others received Shimotsuki Yasuie's final message of the rebels' new gathering place.[8] Up to two days before the Raid on Onigashima, the prisoners remained trapped in Rasetsu Town.[9]

On the day of the Fire Festival, the rebels were freed from Rasetsu Town by Denjiro, adding 1,000 soldiers to the raid's forces. The group sailed to Tokage Port to retrieve the Scabbards and commence the raid.[2]

Kakunoshin joined the resistance and traveled with the Kouzuki Family's other allies to Onigashima, donning a disguise upon arrival.[10] He joined one of the two groups to sneak into the Live Floor, where he infiltrated the party and pretended to celebrate alongside the Beasts Pirates.[11] When Luffy declared an all-out war, he abandoned his disguise and cheered alongside Hyougoro.[12]

Kakunoshin and Kojuro

Kakunoshin and Kojuro ask Luffy to move on.

He later joined a group of other samurai, intending to face off against Kaidou's and Orochi's forces. When two Numbers arrived, Kojuro promised that the samurai would cut a path through them, and Kakunoshin instructed the pirates to conserve their strength. However, the samurai could not stop Goki, and instead were saved by the Straw Hats themselves.[5]

Later, when Luffy's supposed death was broadcast over Onigashima, Kakunoshin was leading a small group of samurai on the Live Floor, as they questioned whether they should continue fighting.[6]

When the Skull Dome began to burn, Kakunoshin stood in the now-calm Live Floor with the other exhausted samurai. When Hyougoro asked if they would rather Luffy won and they died or Kaidou won and they survived, Kakunoshin laughed and, with the other samurai, stated he would be happy to die if his family could live in peace.[7]

After the Raid was won, Kakunoshin participated in the festival celebration, and cheered along with Luffy's toast.[13]
