Kitsunebi-ryu is a style of sword fighting used by the samurai Kin'emon.

Overview

Kitsunebi-ryu allows the user to generate, attack with, and cut through fire. It can even be used to cut through the fire created by an explosion and can completely protect the user from harm.[1] How the fire is produced is currently unknown. Kitsunebi-ryu is not derived from a Devil Fruit, as Kin'emon already possesses a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, the Fuku Fuku no Mi.[2]

Techniques

  • Homura Saki (焔裂き, Homura Saki?, literally meaning "Flame Split"): Kin'emon slashes his sword to slice an incoming fire attack. This was first used to cut through an explosion caused by pieces of Smiley[1] and was first named when slicing through the flame breath of one of Vegapunk's dragons.[3] In the VIZ manga, this is called Blaze Slice. In the Funimation sub, this is called Flame Split.
  • Karyu Issen (火柳一閃, Karyū Issen?, literally meaning "Firework Flash"): Kin'emon leaps into the air to attack with a powerful flaming slash. This was first used to defeat one of Vegapunk's dragons.[3] This technique is similar to Zoro's Hiryu: Kaen technique. In the VIZ manga, this is called Fire-Willow Flash. In the Funimation sub, this is called Flaming Flash.
