Kusopp is a member of the Makiguso Pirates appearing in Chin Piece. He is a counterpart of Usopp.[1]

Appearance[]

Child Kusopp

Kusopp as a child.

As a young boy, Kusopp somewhat resembles Usopp as a child, though without his long nose. He wears a white shirt with light blue overalls. To make up for his lack of a long nose, Chinpy drew a sketch that Kusopp wears taped to his head, even into adulthood.

As an adult, Kusopp wears a formal suit and has a thin beard.

Personality[]

Kusopp is a skeptical person and, unlike many of the kids in his village, isn't interested in becoming a pirate. Like his counterpart, he tends to act as a tsukkomi (straight man) in manzai comedy.

History[]

Chin Piece[]

While walking through town, Kusopp passed Monkey D. Luffy's bounty poster. He commented on how many kids look up to pirates due to the Golden Age of Piracy. As he admonished other children for wanting to start their crew, he was approached by Chinpy, who he initially mistook for Luffy. Chinpy asked Kusopp to join their version of the Straw Hat Pirates, stating that he looked like Sogeking, and taped a drawing of Usopp's nose to his forehead to complete his look.

Kusopp refused to join and began to storm off. However, a group of bounty hunters suddenly attacked, mistaking Chinpy for Luffy. Chinpy quickly defeated them, but as he explained his stretching abilities, they were attacked by Sekken De Tearai. Kusopp watched as Chinpy defeated Tearai as well, and was forced off the island by Chinpy, who decided that Kusopp would join his crew.

Sometime later, the duo ran into Wind Rumor Taro, and eventually made it to Gacha Gacha Island. Gacha Gacha Husband quickly convinced Chinpy to continue playing until he got a version of Roronoa Zoro he would be happy with, and Kusopp watched as he rolled a variety of people and objects, including a paper cut out of Zoro, a sea urchin, and an elephant watering plant called Roronoa Jouro (ロロノア・ジョウロ, Roronoa Jōro?).

After emptying the gacha machine, Chinpy prepared to leave with his group of Zoro lookalikes, when Kusunoa-kun called the rest of them knockoffs of himself. The knockoffs began a free-for-all fight, which Chinpy and Kusopp watched, resolved to recruit the last one standing. This ended up being Mechayowa Yoro, and Kusopp watched as Chinpy defeated and recruited him.

Sometime after leaving the island, the crew ran out of food and began to get extremely hungry. After using Chin Chin no Uranai, Chinpy found them a restaurant and a small house on a tiny island. The group entered and found Sasoz, who Chinpy asked to join the crew due to him being a cook and the similarity of his name to Sanji's. Sasoz misunderstood the recruitment as the group attempting to become his disciples, and stated that they would have to cook something to impress him.

They accepted the challenge, and Kusopp was the first to cook something. However, his food turned out disgusting, and Sasoz rejected him. After Yoro's attempt, Kusopp challenged Sasoz to make his food and watched as Yoro ate it and passed out. He later left the island with the rest of the crew.

Sometime later, Kusopp joined the rest of the crew on the Boin Archipelago. He was quickly defeated by a Macho Man Who Looks Like an Old Man With a Carrot Growing on his Head, and after Dareyorimo Tsuyoi was born, was apprehensive of him. However, he accepted Chinpy inviting him into the crew, and tried Sasoz's stew alongside the rest of the crew, spitting it out due to the taste.

Later, Kusopp ran through a town with his friends while being chased by a Marine soldier. In an attempt to hide, they barged into a clothing store, only to mistake Chiyobbaba for Tony Tony Chopper. After a rant about despicable people, Kusopp brought up her friends, prompting a rant about not needing any. Chinpy then invited her to join his crew, which she accepted, stunned at the offer. However, she stated that she'd only join on the condition that they do something about his clothing, and Kusopp and Chiyobbaba began working on Chinpy's wardrobe. They tried to fit him into shorts, a loincloth, and a skirt, but none of them worked out. Eventually, the group ended up back outside with Chinpy exposed again and was arrested by the Marine soldier from earlier for public indecency.

The group was eventually passed along to Pink Koinu, Mint Kotori, and Lemonade Kozaru. Chinpy, Chiyobbaba, and Sasoz, who had managed to escape from their bonds, tried to rescue Yoro and Kusopp but were stopped by the three Marines. To compensate for their weakness, they went to train and develop Haki for two minutes.

Upon returning, the three pirates were able to emulate Haki abilities. After a short battle, Chinpy managed to trap the three Marines, as well as Kusopp, in a giant pile of poo. His dedication to his friends convinced the Marines to give up the fight and leave, though Kusopp remained trapped in the pile.

The pirates continued to travel together until they eventually encountered Yamada Shinichi. Shinichi convinced Chinpy to return to his family, and the crew split up.

Future[]

Twenty years later, Kusopp became a salaryman. While on the train, he ran into Chinpy, and the two went out for drinks to reminisce. Kusopp talked about wanting to someday become the president of the company where he worked, but his statement was overheard by the current president, who angrily poured his drink over Kusopp's head and made fun of him. Chinpy angrily trapped him in a pile of poo, stating that he was giving up on the corporate world and would travel again.

Sometime later, Kusopp considered how he would never meet Chinpy again, before reading that he had been arrested.

Trivia[]
