Log of Rivalry! The Straw Hats and Cipher Pol is the 17th episode recap of the One Piece anime.

Franky and Robin give a recap of their history with Cipher Pol, with both their encounter with CP9 two years ago, as well as the actions of Lucci's group after they joined CP0.

Long Summary

Franky and Robin explain CP0, the Straw Hats' main adversary on Egghead, as well as their origins as former CP9 agents.

Lucci and Kaku, the two strongest agents, worked undercover for the Galley-La Company on Water 7, as shipwrights. Two other agents, Kalifa and Blueno, also operated undercover as a secretary and bartender respectively. However, the four agents abandoned their covers and revealed their identities when they attempted to extort the Galley-La Company's boss, Iceburg, for the blueprints of the Ancient Weapon Pluton. Though the Straw Hat Pirates attempted to intervene, they were overpowered by the agents' Rokushiki as well as Lucci's Zoan-type Devil Fruit, the Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Leopard.

The CP9 agents then travelled to Enies Lobby with Robin to meet their boss, Spandam, as well as three other agents (Jabra, Kumadori and Fukurou). However, the Straw Hats followed the agents to Enies Lobby in pursuit of Robin. Though Luffy discovered new techniques and defeated Blueno using Gear Second, the remaining agents watched as the Straw Hats set fire to the World Government flag, essentially declaring war against the government.

In the air outside, Franky defeated Fukurou, and Chopper discovered Monster Point by eating three Rumble Balls, allowing him to defeat Kumadori. Nami also used her bo to defeat Kalifa. Sanji then defeated Jabra using Diable Jambe and Zoro sliced down Kaku using Kyutoryu, but Luffy struggled to defeat Lucci. During this battle, Luffy developed Gear Third and struck Lucci before finally defeating him and sending him flying out of the tower. Defeating their enemies, the Straw Hats escaped the Buster Call of Enies Lobby.

Following their defeat, Lucci and the other CP9 agents were absorbed into CP0. They first investigated the fall of Doflamingo in Dressrosa and the Revolutionary Army's role in the incident. They then attended the Levely, serving as the World Nobles' personal guards. Finally, three agents (Lucci, Kaku, and Stussy) were sent to Egghead to return S-Bear as well as assassinate Vegapunk and all of his satellites, leading to their present-day conflict against the Straw Hat Pirates.
