The Marubenny is a non-canon ship created as part of the Adventure of the Marubenny collaboration project and advertising campaign. Based on the general trading company Marubeni, the ship travels around the One Piece world, interacting with various locations and characters using Marubeni's technology.[1]
Ship Design and Appearance[]
The Marubenny is a normal-sized ship with two masts and a large "M" emblem as its figurehead. Its front mast bears the Marubeni logo and name, with the slogan "Global crossvalue platform" between them.
Its unique features tie into different parts of Marubeni's business:
- The wind turbine is placed in between the ship's two masts and is taller than both, generating electricity by harnessing the wind. This allows the ship to move without catching the wind in its sails, using stored wind energy to propel it manually.
- The onboard garden is placed at the center of the ship's deck. It grows a variety of fruits and vegetables, including pumpkins, corn, and carrots. The ship's crew uses adaptable sowing, fertilizing, and cultivation methods to create a stable food supply, even when faced with unstable water and unpredictable weather.
- The fountain is placed at the foot of the windmill and always provides clean water. This water supply is made by converting sea water, drawn in through an opening at the bottom of the ship, into freshwater with the use of special membrane technology. This water is used for drinking, gardening, and filling the ship's water tank.
- The water tank is housed in the ship's hull. It is full of salmon farmed onboard using aquaculture techniques.[1]
History[]
Adventure of the Marubenny[]
The Marubenny first met the Straw Hat Pirates in the New World. Together, they installed floating offshore wind turbines.[1]
The ship traveled to Arabasta Kingdom to install seawater desalination technology, Skypiea to implement precision agriculture, the Red Haired Pirates' island to provide an aquaculture salmon farm, Sakura Kingdom to deploy eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) aircrafts, Water 7 to convert the Sea Train to run on fuel ammonia, and Whole Cake Island to provide sustainable coffee.
The Marubenny returned to the Straw Hat Pirates to provide Sanji with herbs for cooking a feast, before parting ways with the crew.
