Nerine is a tan-skinned man with wavy black hair. He wears the uniform of a Donquixote Family soldier: a black shirt, brown gloves, brown boots, and a cream-colored pants with dark markings on them. He also wears a yellow neckerchief.[2]

Nerine joined the Donquixote Family for money, allegedly to send to his lover. He is not a very considerate person, making life-changing decisions without talking to his lover, who would also be affected.

At some point in the past, Nerine met Poppy, and the two became lovers. Eventually, Nerine became a soldier in the Donquixote Family, committing crimes on their behalf.[2]
Nerine slowly climbed the New Royal Plateau while hiding, eventually making it just under Flower Hill. Eventually, he was found by the Straw Hat Pirates, who tried to convince him to return to Poppy. He refused, causing them to attempt force, but he remained adamant that he wouldn't return.
Finally, he told them that he decided to fake his death, worried about how people would treat Poppy if they found out he was a member of the Donquixote Pirates, and asked the Straw Hats to tell her that he had died. Before leaving, he told them he would visit the spot where he met Poppy before leaving forever.
After going to the fountain in front of the Corrida Colosseum, Nerine ran into Poppy, who convinced him not to fake his death.
