One Piece Wiki

The New Giant Warrior Pirates[2] are a pirate crew of giants led by Hajrudin. The crew is a spiritual revival of the Giant Warrior Pirates that disbanded 100 years ago. They were once part of Buggy's Delivery, before leaving to become the sixth ship of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet after the events on Dressrosa.

They are one of the central characters from The Stories of the Self-Proclaimed Straw Hat Grand Fleet Cover Page Serial and are major allies in the Elbaph Arc.

Jolly Roger[]

The crew's Jolly Roger is a skull with a helmet with two horns, and with two crossed swords underneath. The design is similar to that of the original Giant Warrior Pirates, with the only difference this shows the base of the helmet.[3]

The Naglfar is a Viking ship with a bovinae skull figurehead over a plethora of feathers. It has numerous wooden shields at its outer rail with different designs, with several slim oars beneath them. It has a large a structure that resembles the huts seen on Elbaph, with a matching figurehead on the front of the roof. It has two masts at either end of the ship, each have a sail and a crow's nest. The front sail features an image of a Nordic dragon, and the second has vertical dark and light stripes. It is a very large ship, fitting its crew of giants.

In the anime, the skull is white and the feathers are light brown. In the Digitally Colored Manga, the skull is red and the feathers are yellow, and the body is also red.

To get around Elbaph itself, the crew uses a type of ship known as a Svarr. It shares its Viking theme with the Naglfar but is significantly smaller and lacks a figurehead. In addition, it only has a singular sail. It is a mist-ship that is capable of utilizing the unique atmosphere of Elbaph to row on the clouds themselves.[4]

Crew Strength[]

It can be expected that despite having only 5 members that the New Giant Warrior Pirates are a very strong crew because all the members are giants from Elbaph. Their captain Hajrudin was able to defeat Machvise, an officer of the infamous Donquixote Pirates.[5] Another testament to their power is that they caused major upset when they resigned from Buggy's Delivery.[6] All the members possess tremendously strong wills, since none of them were knocked out by Imu's power Supreme King Haki.[7]

History[]

Past[]

At some point, Hajrudin banded with four other giants in the hope of reviving the disbanded Giant Warrior Pirates.[8]

While the exact time and circumstances of the crew's foundation is unknown, it is known that Hajrudin, Gerd, Stansen, and Goldberg were familiar with each other during their childhoods.[9][10][11] Hajrudin also befriended Road during their childhoods, due to Road's skill at drawing sea charts.[12]

During the time of the Ohara Incident 22 years ago, Hajrudin, Gerd, and Goldberg were seen recovering the lost books preserved by the Oharan Archaeologists under Jaguar D. Saul's guidance.[13]

15 years ago, Hajrudin and his four friends set sail from Elbaph in search of a doctor that could cure Ida's illness.[14] However, they were unsuccessful and by the time they returned Ida had already passed away.[15]

Two years ago, Stansen was captured by the Coffee Monkeys and set to be sold as a slave in the Human Auctioning House before the Celestial Dragon Hit-and-Run Incident came to fruition.[16] Presumably, he was reunited with Hajrudin and the others after this event.[17]

During the Timeskip[]

The crew then joined the Buggy's Delivery, and were classified as S-Class Mercenaries.

Dressrosa Saga[]

Dressrosa Arc[]

After the battle on Dressrosa, Hajrudin asked if the budding crew could become subordinates of the Straw Hat Pirates.[8] Although Luffy declined, he nevertheless accepted them as comrades and friends, to which Hajrudin and the rest of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet representatives drank.[18]

Whole Cake Island Saga[]

Zou Arc[]

Hajrudin later sent a message to Buggy, informing him of the giants' decision to leave the Buggy's Delivery.[6]

The Stories of the Self-Proclaimed Straw Hat Grand Fleet[]

After resigning from Buggy's Delivery, Hajrudin and his crew sailed away from Buggy's headquarters. Buggy was furious at their resignation[19] and added each member to the deserters list: Hajrudin, the captain; Stansen, the shipwright; Road, the navigator; Goldberg, the cook; and Gerd, the doctor.[20]

Final Saga[]

Egghead Arc[]

Originally, the crew planned to head to Egghead to help out the Straw Hat Pirates. However, the Giant Warrior Pirates, their revived predecessors, told them that they will be going to Egghead in their stead. This left the New Giant Warrior Pirates to stay in Elbaph to protect it from it's own problems.

Elbaph Arc[]

Two days after the Egghead Incident,[21] as the Giant Warrior Pirates traveled through a sleep mist, Muginn took the Thousand Sunny with half of the Straw Hats on board to Road,[22] but was spotted by Piper who reported to Gerd and Goldberg as the pair head to investigate their crewmate.[23] Road then dressed his captive and placed them in his Land of Gods diorama, however the crew managed to escape.[24] With Road giving chase, and Gerd and Goldberg after him with the Thousand Sunny in hand,[25] the group (minus Luffy) set a trap for Road.[26] Meanwhile, Gerd and Goldberg encountered Luffy, as the two groups closed in on Road,[27] before heading to the village.[28]

At the same time, Hajrudin and Stansen made preparations for the Straw Hats arrival,[29] and encountered the Giant Warrior Pirates and the rest of the crew as they arrived on Elbaph.[30] As they approached the Western Village, they met Luffy's group[4][28] and Hajrudin formally introduced the New Giant Warrior Pirates to Luffy.[31] The whole crew then (minus Road) prepared the festival they would have in honor of the Straw Hats while the Straw Hats were out to reunite Robin with Saul.

During the then starting festival, Road was enforced by Nami to accompany her, Luffy and Zoro to the Aurust Castle to get the key to Loki's chains. While at the Castle, Road explained some of the history of the Giants to the Straw Hats, as well as the mystery of the murder of Harald and the Hajrudin and Loki's feud. While they were venturing deeper into the castle, the group then stumbled upon a mysterious mark on the ground before they were apprehended by Scopper Gaban, whom Road wanted to introduce but got cut off by the former. As Gaban, to the shock of everyone, offered the key to Loki to the group, Road then sat back, watching Luffy clash with Scopper Gaban for the key, fearing the damage it could do to the castle. When Gaban suddenly surrendered the key to the group, Road then went back to the village with the Straw Hats. However, Gerd later noticed Road acting strangely and asked Road to let her know what they discovered. As Road both intentionally and unintentionally stalled time, Gerd then force punished him with a strike, demanding him to relay what he learned to the crew.

Back at the fest, Road then relayed Luffy's and Zoro's intention with Loki to the crew, sending them all into panic mode. They then set out on their ship to stop both Luffy and Zoro from freeing Loki, spiraling down from the Sun World to the Underworld at high speed, however, underestimating the descend impact on the ship and themselves. Thankfully, Luffy stopped their descend but unfortunately send them all (minus Gerd and Sanji who was accompanying Gerd) back into the air. The crew then crash-landed and though a bit bruised and injured, plead with Luffy to not free Loki, fearing his freedom could jeopardize Elbaph's safety. However, Zoro had already removed all but one cuff from Loki and the whole crew then watched in terror Loki grabbing his hammer and slamming it into the Adam Tree, causing a lightning bolt to strike at the Sun World. Loki then demanded total freedom from the group or he would continue striking and killing everyone above. Hajrudin, fearing the consequences, then abided to his demands, but everyone was then surprised to see Luffy knocking out Loki with a seemingly hollow punch. Hajrudin then once more had to give in into demands, but this time from Luffy who asked him to treat Loki. Hajrudin then reluctantly had Gerd Loki's wounds and everyone then listened in to the conversation between Loki and Hajrudin about their past. Overcome with disdain, Hajrudin then attempted to kill Loki, although Loki managed to stop him himself by taunting him once more.

Later, as Goldberg returned from a successful hunt with Zoro and Sanji, Goldberg then prepared a meal for everyone. As everyone sat down and ate, the whole crew with the Straw Hats would then discuss Loki's explanation about the Knights of God arrival, his pact with Luffy about Shanks and Loki's own admiration for a former pirate.
