The North Pole is the northernmost point in the world.
Overview[]
The North Pole has yet to be shown. Like its polar counterpart the South Pole, it appears to be very cold, as evidenced by Shanks and Buggy's argument during their youth over whether the North Pole or South Pole is colder.[1] Oda would later reveal that Shanks was correct and that the South Pole is colder.[2]
The North Pole is inhabited by kraken, with Surume being one of them.[3] At some point, Hody Jones went to the North Pole and captured Surume to force him into his crew's service.[4]
Trivia[]
- In SBS Volume 18, Oda reasoned that the South Pole is colder than the North Pole because the Antarctic is a land continent while the Arctic is just a mass of ice.[2] While this is certainly true in the real world, its applicability in the One Piece world is a bit uncertain. While the Arctic is confirmed to exist, the existence of the Antarctic, and its status as a continent, has not been touched upon.
