One Piece: Pirate Warriors, known as Kaizoku Musou in Japan, is a One Piece video game series developed by Omega Force, a subsidiary of Koei Tecmo, and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It is one of many series based on Koei Tecmo's Dynasty Warriors franchise, combining its gameplay with One Piece characters, settings and stories.

Gameplay[]

The gameplay follows the typical Warriors beat 'em up action formula, where the player must fight against hordes of enemies in a 3D environment.

Character Variants[]

The following is a list of characters who have had multiple variants playable in at least one game in the series. Note that this does not include characters who only have different costumes or pre-timeskip/post-timeskip versions without any moveset changes.

The Straw Hat Pirates, excluding Jinbe, comprise the majority of character variants in the series. Pirate Warriors 2 first made the distinction between their pre-timeskip and post-timeskip versions and gave them separate slots on the character select screen. Pirate Warriors 3 then changed this so that the variants shared the same slot, and the moveset was instead determined by costume selection. This continued in Pirate Warriors 4, however, the entry had six of the pre-timeskip variants cut, retaining only Luffy, Zoro, Usopp and Sanji.

Apart from the Straw Hat Pirates, the only characters with variants in the series thus far are Marshall D. Teach, who had two movesets in Pirate Warriors 2 and 3, as well as Shanks and Kaidou, who each have 2 movesets in Pirate Warriors 4. Teach's first variant only had the ability of the Yami Yami no Mi, while the second also incorporated the Gura Gura no Mi. In Pirate Warriors 4, only the double ability variant is playable. Shanks' first variant mainly pulls from the rare times he's seen fighting in the manga, while the second also incorporates the abilities he showcased in One Piece Film: Red. Kaidou's first variant is primarily his normal, base form with his Dragon form as a Form Change, while the second has him fighting primarily in his Hybrid form.
