One Piece: Teacher Support Project (One Piece 先生応援プロジェクト, One Piece Sensei Ōen Purojekuto?) was a One Piece-themed teaching program run by Arrows, Inc., a Japanese education service. The program aimed to encourage positivity in young students during the coronavirus pandemic.
The program was first implemented on One Piece Day 2020.
Overview[]
2020[]
The program consisted of both physical and digital materials (available for print), given to schools across Japan free of charge. Digital materials included worksheets and templates based on One Piece characters, and included material for elementary, junior high, and high school students. Over 100 templates were made with a focus on a various aspects of class life, such as timetables, cleaning duty, and class communication. Decorations were also included, with music room decorations featuring Brook and arts and crafts room decorations featuring Franky.
The templates were available online beginning on July 22nd for teachers registered for SENSEI Note, Arrows Inc.'s teachers-only digital network.
In addition to the digital materials, the program included a collection of 29 praise stamps based on various One Piece characters, to allow children to feel like they were being praised by the characters directly. Teachers who received the stamp set also received a "how-to" guide booklet, explaining the context behind the various characters used in the stamps and allowing even teachers who are unfamiliar with One Piece to use the stamps correctly.
The stamps were limited to 10,000 sets, and were delivered on a first-come, first-served model.[1] They included a special volume titled Re:START COMICS, which contained chapters 1, 2, and 598-602, including content between chapters from the original volumes. The volume was intended to provide basic information about the Straw Hat Pirates to teachers who were not familiar with them.[2] On the spine, in place of a volume number, the volume lists Trial (試?).
The program was a massive success, with over 100,000 downloads of the digital content by March 31, 2021.[3]
On July 22, 2021, to celebrate One Piece Day, the 2020 set of stamps was temporarily available for order in the Jump Shop. They were split into three sets of 7 and one set of 8, selling for ¥770 and ¥880 respectively.
2021[]
The 2021 version of the program was similar to the 2020 version, with a similar collection of digital content. Primary differences came from the physical tools available.
Replacing the original set of stamps, a new set of 12 was created, limited to 2,000 sets. The sets were given based on a lottery system to teachers who applied between May 13 and May 31, 2021. Additionally, 1,000 sets of a special volume were released, on a first-come, first-served basis. The volume was titled Library Limited Special Book (図書室限定スペシャルブック, Tosho-shitsu Gentei Supesharu Bukku?) and, accordingly, was intended to be kept in school libraries. Each set included 12 copies of the volume and 500 copies of One Piece-themed library cards.[4]
The Library Limited Special Book contains volumes 1-3 in full, and is an octavo book.
2022[]
In 2022, the program was more limited in terms of new content. New digital content included One Piece-themed calendars, with icons on the birthdays of the Straw Hat Pirates members and memorable scenes associated with each month.
Physical content appears to have returned to the original stamp set, including the guide booklet and Re:START COMICS. Notably, the guide booklet's cover has been changed.[5][6]
