Gashapon is the Japanese word for a Capsule ball. A Gashapon normally contains one collectable figure or toy inside, sometimes requiring assembly. In Japan they are very popular amongst collectors.
Gashapon machines are similar to coin-operated toy machines found outside grocery stores. Whereas toy machines contain cheap products that normally cost between ¢25-50, Gashapon machines cost anywhere from ¥100-500 (approx. $1–5 US) and are usually much higher quality. Stores that solely deal with Gashapon machines can be found throughout Japan.
One Piece Gashapon collections are released over time with various characters from the series.
