After determining that Laboon is the only person that Luffy formally declared as a rival, the editors attempted to rank the other "rival candidates" according to self-admitted arbitrary requirements. The candidates were ranked according to their number of appearances, their number of Usopp Gallery Pirates appearances, their average Popularity Polls results, the number of techniques they have, and their attractiveness.
