One Piece Oto Utage ~East Blue Edition~ is a brass entertainment show performed at the Tokyo International Forum Hall from Sunday, August 12 to Sunday, September 2, 2018.[1] It was directed, composed, and choreographed by Kayana Kaori with musical direction by Tanaka Kohei.[2] It is based on the East Blue Saga and featured a 35-member band composed of Japanese and American musicians.[3]

Information and Plot[]

One Piece Oto Utage was performed 28 times and was divided into two acts. Act 1 included memorable scenes from the East Blue Saga. Act 2 featured classic songs from the anime and a feast with the Straw Hat Pirates. In between the two acts was a 20-minute intermission, in which a group of the show's percussionists put on a brief performance in the theater's lobby.[4]

The show also features Clapper, an original character who interacts with the crew in the second act. Brook also appears in the second act to perform Binks' Sake.

Tickets initially went on sale Saturday, April 21, 2018. Ticket prices differed by theater seat sections. S seat tickets cost 9,800 yen. A seat tickets cost 8,300 yen. B seat tickets cost 6,800 yen.[3]

Promotion[]

Members of the Oto Utage cast performed at Tokyo One Piece Tower on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 13:05-15:05 in the Greeting Cabin.[7]

A promotional press conference was held Wednesday, June 27, 2018, to show a sample of the performance, in which the actors for the Straw Hat Pirates performed acrobatic moves while a group of the show's musicians played Fight Together and We Are! while dressed as Marines.[8] Another promotional performance was held at the FNS Uta no Natsu Matsuri and broadcasted on Wednesday, July 25 at 19:00, where the group performed "We Are!".[4]

Rehearsals for the show were broadcasted on BS Fuji August 6, 2018 from 00:30-01:00, and on Fuji TV August 11, 2018 from 2:55-3:25. The rehearsal broadcasts were hosted by Yamasato Ryota from comedy duo "Nankai Candies" and actress Taira Yuna.[9]

One Piece Oto Utage: Just before the curtain opens, let's talk about One Piece! (ワンピース音宴・開幕直前スペシャル ワンピースを語ろう!, Wanpīsu-on-en kaimaku chokuzen supesharu wanpīsu o katarou!?), a promotional program, was broadcasted August 10, 2018 at 26:55-27:25 on Fuji TV as the Kanto local broadcast and again August 12, 2018 at 24:30-25:00 on BS Fuji as a rebroadcast. It was also hosted by Yamasato and Taira, as well as Fuji TV announcer Ituka Ryusei.[10]

Limited merchandise was sold to promote the show, including can badges, metal water bottles, tote bags, egg shakers, t-shirts, towels, pens, and print cookies.[11]
