Page One[3] is a Shinuchi and one of the Tobiroppo of the Beasts Pirates.[1]

Due to his actions and role, he is a supporting antagonist in the Wano Country Arc.

Appearance

Page One Manga Color Scheme

Page One's color scheme in the manga.

Page One is a young man of short height (slightly shorter than even his proclaimed elder sister)[2] with longish, purple hair that is all swept off to one side while the other appears to be shaved off.[1] He also has sharp, angular eyes with no visible eyebrows. His name is diagonally tattooed on his upper body, with "P" on his right arm, "AGE" on his chest, and "1" on his left shoulder.[4]

In his human form, he is shown wearing a horned bucket hat and a mask covering his jaw area, both being symmetrically bi-colored. He also wears a long-sleeved shirt with a dark necktie, dark gloves, a cape, and dark pants with matching suspenders.[5]

In his dinosaur form, he wears a pair of dark pants[6] as well as a dark vest tied around his pants. He also wears dark gloves that go to his elbows.[4]

Personality

Page One believes that anyone rebelling against the administration of Wano should be made an example of, and thus has no qualms about a powerful pirate like him being sent to deal with such instances.[1] As a result, he is violent in his missions, destroying multiple soba shops while looking for Sanji and had no pity for the shop owners he wrongly attacked, viewing his actions as necessary to coerce Sanji into revealing himself.[6] He is also very gluttonous, eating the soba from one of the shops he wrongly attacked, and decided to attack a fruit shop just because he felt like eating fruit.[6]

However, when together with the rest of the Tobiroppo, Page One seems to take a far meeker disposition, becoming flustered when his peers start looking down on him. In particular, Ulti seems to embarrass him the most with her personality quirks and overall disrespectful behavior, although he seems to still hold respect for her with the way he addresses Ulti as "big sis" (姉貴, aneki?).[7]

Relationships

Crew

Page One appears to be loyal and respectful to Kaido. Unlike Ulti, he does not behave disrespectful to him and is outraged by Ulti's rudeness towards him. Unlike Sasaki and Who's Who, Page One does not seem to have any antagonism with the All-Stars as he showed no signs of disrespect towards them nor any ambition to replace them.

He appears to have a strained relationship with Sasaki and Who's Who. Sasaki belittled him and called him "dead weight" while Who's Who was annoyed with him and Ulti.

Ulti

Page One and Ulti seem to be very close with Page One calling Ulti "elder sister" (姉貴, aneki?)[8] (her being two years older than him),[2] while Ulti refers to him as "Pay-tan" (ペーたん, Pē-tan?, VIZ: "Pay-Pay"), much to his annoyance.[9]

Page One is shown to be often annoyed and embarrassed by Ulti's demeanor whenever it is because of her quirks with her calling him "Pay-tan" or insisting to ride on his back. Despite this, the two work well together with him helping Ulti against Luffy and worrying for her after she was attacked by Yamato, asking medics to tend to her despite her protests.

Abilities and Powers

As a Shinuchi in the Beasts Pirates, Page One holds a high position in his crew and has authority over the lower-ranking members. As a member of the Tobiroppo, he is among the strongest Shinuchi, despite his young age, with only Kaido and the All-Stars ranking above him.[1]

Page One ate the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Spinosaurus, an Ancient Zoan Devil Fruit that gives him the ability to transform into a spinosaurus.[1] As a spinosaurus, he possesses tremendous strength, particularly in his jaws and tail, which are capable of effortlessly destroying buildings.[6] In his hybrid form, his arms become long enough to use in combat and possess great strength as well, being able to overpower a kick from a Raid Suit-enhanced Sanji and send the Straw Hat cook flying through several buildings.[10] As an Ancient Zoan user, Page One has a high amount of durability, being able to recover quickly after strong attacks from Sanji and later Luffy (having only a minor jaw injury from the latter).

History

Wano Country Arc

Page One and X Drake were sent to the Flower Capital by Queen to kill a soba stand owner named "Sangoro" (Sanji of the Straw Hats).[1] Page One then went on a rampage, attacking soba stands in search of his target. Sanji eventually came and attacked him, and Page One contacted his comrades to come to their location as he confronted the cook.[6] Sanji donned his Raid Suit, and when Page One attempted to attack him, Sanji turned invisible and kicked Page One in the stomach. Page One then transformed into his hybrid form and swiped at Sanji with his arm, overpowering Sanji's kick and sending him crashing through several buildings. Thinking Sanji was dead, Page One prepared to bring him to Kyoshiro, only for Sanji to drop down from above and attack him again.[11] The outcome of the fight was not shown, but Sanji was able to escape the Flower Capital.[12]

Page One Gets Hit by Luffy's Elephant Gun

Page One gets hit by Luffy's Elephant Gun.

On the day of the Fire Festival, Page One arrived at Onigashima with the rest of the Tobiroppo.[13] They then sat down to wait to meet with Kaido and bickered amongst themselves.[5] When Kaido arrived, he gave them the mission of finding his "son" Yamato, saying he would let them battle one of the All-Stars for their position if they succeeded.[14] While searching for Yamato inside Kaido's castle, Ulti tagged along with Page One and forced him to carry her when she grew tired. After tumbling down some stairs, they encountered Luffy.[15] During the ensuing clash, Page One transformed into his full-spinosaurus form and was then struck by Luffy's Elephant Gun, with Ulti consequently being knocked out by Yamato.[16]

After recovering from said scuffle, Page One asked for medics to tend to Ulti and left her behind to chase after Yamato and Luffy.[17] As the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance waged war on Onigashima, Page One and Ulti received a call from King informing the Tobiroppo that the challenge for an opportunity to fight the All-Stars was cancelled, and that they were to stop the enemy alliance from getting to the roof of the dome, where Kaido was fighting the Nine Red Scabbards.[18]

Major Battles

Anime and Manga Differences

In the manga, the outcome of his fight with Sanji in the Flower Capital was not shown. In the anime, Sanji fled the scene after delivering a powerful kick but without leaving Page One incapacitated.

Trivia

  • Page One is named after the real-life card game of the same name. This fits with the card game-themed names of the Beasts Pirates' Shinuchi.
  • Like X Drake, Page One has a numeral in his name and also tattoed on his chest.
  • In Page One's first manga appearance, his full beast form originally lacked his u-shaped eyebrow and had a more realistic appearance. In his first anime appearance, he is seen with his later design.
  • Page One's favorite food is nachos.[2]
