Real Escape x One Piece (リアル脱出ゲーム×ONE PIECE) is a live escape game organized by SCRAP Co., Ltd. in which the participant takes on the role of a character in the One Piece world, has to solve puzzles and escape from a place. Hired actors often take on the role of pirates or marines to intensify the gaming experience for the participant. In addition, special stands related to One Piece are or were set up at the corresponding venues during the events, for example snack or merchandise stands with exclusive items. Sometimes exclusive goodies were also handed out.

Since the first escape game in 2014, four different scenarios have been offered, with the last scenario being performed in 2019 to coincide with the 13th One Piece movie One Piece: Stampede. It is currently unknown whether visitors can expect further adventures in the world of One Piece in the future.

Event Details[]

2014: Escape from the underwater prison Impel Down[]

Escape from the underwater prison Impel Down (海底監獄インペルダウンからの脱出) was the first organized live escape game for One Piece and was first made available to the public for two months in the summer of 2014. The project took place in several Zepp concert halls in Japan. A year later, during Golden Week, the project made a comeback and was offered all week long at the Tsutaya O-East in Tokyo.

The participant takes on the role of a prisoner in the high-security prison Impel Down at the time when Monkey D. Luffy infiltrates it. At his side and with five other participants, the task is to free his brother Portgas D. Ace and escape the large prison in the deep sea within an hour. In doing so, tricky puzzles must be solved and a code must be deciphered that opens the last door to freedom.

2015: Escape from the Summit War[]

Escape from the Summit War (頂上戦争からの脱出) was the second organized live escape game for One Piece and took place in 2015 over several months at a total of 11 locations in Japan. Mainly stadiums and their outdoor areas, such as the Tokyo Dome or the Meiji Jingu Stadium, were used. The first tour took place in the aforementioned Meiji Jingu Baseball Stadium on June 19, 2015, while the last was organized on September 26, 2015 in the Sapporo Dome.

During this event, the participant once again takes on the role of a pirate who takes part in the Summit War of Marineford and now has to escape with Monkey D. Luffy. This time, the number of participants was not set and more than ten people could register, but a number of participants of 3 to 6 pirates was recommended. In addition, "kits" were distributed to the group that contained tips on the puzzles. Different levels of difficulty could be selected, with easier ones containing more important tips, so that the game could also be made interesting for families with small children.

2016: Escape from the Golden Amusement Park[]

Escape from the Golden Amusement Park (黄金遊園地からの脱出) was the third organized live escape game for One Piece and took place in the summer of 2016 at the two venues Hirakata Park and Tokyo Dome City Attractions. The event was based on the plot of the movie One Piece Film: Gold, which was released in the same year. The entire amusement park serves as the stage for the escape game and the attractions themselves must be entered to solve certain puzzles. Once again there was also an easier level of difficulty, especially since some attractions can only be entered from a certain age or size and this would have made solving them on the normal level of difficulty impossible. The participants take on the role of pirates who work together with the Straw Hats. The goal is to crack the safe, steal 1 billion Belly and then escape with the loot.

2019: Escape from the Pirate King Treasure Amusement Park[]

Escape from the Pirate King's Treasure Amusement Park (海賊王(ロジャー)の秘宝眠る遊園地からの脱出?, alternatively translated: "Escape from the amusement park that houses the hidden treasure of the Pirate King (Roger)") was the fourth organized live escape game for One Piece and took place again from July 13th to September 23rd, 2019 in the Tokyo Dome City Attractions amusement park. The event was based on the plot of the movie One Piece: Stampede, which was released in the same year. This time, too, the entire amusement park, including some attractions, served as the stage. For the first time, an English-language version was also offered on selected dates.

Once again, the participant takes on the role of a pirate, but this time Monkey D. Luffy is a rival. Other well-known pirates, such as Buggy, also compete against the player in the race for the treasure of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger. The aim is to get your hands on the treasure by solving puzzles. A special feature is that you receive points or a bounty for your success, which you can use to compete with other participants. It is therefore clear that better performances mean a higher bounty. The event had no time limit, but was only tied to the opening times of the amusement park.
