Roronoa Zoro Falls Into the Sea is a one-shot spinoff made by "Dr. STONE" illustrator Boichi to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of One Piece. It is the first installment of the One Piece Cover Comic Project.[1]

Plot[]

Further information: Chapter 51 and Chapter 52

Upon encountering one another during the Krieg Pirates' siege on the Baratie, Roronoa Zoro entice Dracule Mihawk for a duel for the title of the world strongest swordsman, but is met with the reality of his abilities in comparison. After his defeat, Mihawk shows his respect for the young fighter and encourages him to get stronger for their next fight.

Differences from the original chapters[]

  • The special chapter starts and ends with a view on the world, similar to Dr. STONE.
  • After Zoro's defeat, Luffy's attempt to attack Mihawk is extended where Luffy tries a second attempt to attack Mihawk after dodging Luffy's initial attack, but the latter is still able to dodge all of his attacks.
  • Several scenes are omitted:
    • The exchange between Mihawk and Krieg is omitted.
    • Luffy sending out Usopp to find Nami.
  • The end of chapter tag features Zoro's face.
