The Shoujou Pirates is a crew of treasure hunters and echolocating explorers. Their captain is Shoujou. They are part of the Saruyama Alliance, alongside the Masira Pirates and Mont Blanc Cricket. [1]

Jolly Roger[]

The crew's Jolly Roger is a orangutan skull with green "hair" styled after Shoujou's own and a pair of crossbones. Below the Jolly Roger, the phrase "mori no hito" is written.

Crew Strength[]

The full power of the crew is unknown, but its captain has a Beli Small36,000,000 bounty and was capable of dealing significant damage to the Going Merry (as well as his own ship by accident) with his voice alone.[1] The crew is also strong enough to establish a territory near Jaya's coast, specifically, the Mouth Bay.

Aside from Shoujou, the crew consists of the Utan Divers, who assist their captain in his echolocating work.

The ship of the crew is named Utan Sonar.[2] The figurehead is of an orangutan head. Shoujo's ship also has large trees serving as masts and doors with ladders around the hull from where the Utan Divers can get in and out of the water, plus a pair of giant paddles with one on each side of the ship. Also on the sails is Shoujou's's Jolly Roger.[1]

History[]

Past[]

Shoujou and his brother showed up to help Mont Blanc Cricket find the lost City of Gold some five or six years ago after reading the tale of Noland in Liar Noland.

Jaya Arc[]

The first appearance of the crew is after the Straw Hats left Mock Town in order to search for Mont Blanc Cricket at the other side of Jaya. Shoujou blocked the Straw Hats' way and demanded them to a pay a toll since they were invading his territory. Shoujou, however, became outraged when Monkey D. Luffy mentioned having defeated Masira and started attacking the Going Merry anyway, leading the Straw Hats to reverse course.[1]

After the Straw Hats meet Cricket, Shoujou and Masira act a bit more friendly towards them and help modify the Going Merry so it can travel to Skypiea.

When Luffy successfully rang the Shandorian Golden Belfry Bell, it brought the Alliances' dream to fruition, and proved that Skypiea does exist. Shoujou and Masira then decide to follow Cricket to pursue their next dream.

After the timeskip, the Saruyama Alliance is seen on an adventure, in search of the island of dreams Nakrowa.[3]

Trivia[]

  • The "Mori no Hito" text accompanying the crew's Jolly Roger is a romanization of the Japanese for "man of the forest" (森の人?), referencing the Malay roots of the word orangutan.
