Afterwards, Stansen became a member and the shipwright of the New Giant Warrior Pirates, and the crew became S-Class soldiers within the mercenary group Buggy's Delivery. Upon his captain Hajrudin pledging his loyalty to Monkey D. Luffy, the crew left the organization.[2]
As a giant, Stansen is much larger than a human. He is rather portly, though has muscular arms, a black beard, a thin mustache, and a crescent scar under his right eye. He wears a hat with flaps on the sides, a leather armband on each arm, and jeans.[1]
Two years after being freed from slavery, Stansen's beard and mustache grew larger. He wears a blue open fur vest, a brown fur cape with skulls on the shoulders, a large spotted black belt with a skull-shaped buckle, and yellow baggy pants. He also wears a viking helmet.[2]
While he was still a child on Elbaph, he wore a similar-looking outfit (albeit smaller for the size of his age), with an addition of a light-colored fur vest, and a sword buckled to his back.[6]
Befitting a warrior of Elbaph, Stansen is an honorable person, as he thanked Rayleigh for helping him and the other slaves escape. He also offered to help the other slaves get off the island after their collars had been removed.[7] While he was in captivity, he remained calm and sociable.[1]
During his childhood, he appeared to be cheerful, as he sat watching Hajrudin training with Raideen while happily eating snacks.[6]
Abilities and Powers[]
Due to his massive size, Stansen possesses very powerful physical strength. He was able to crash through the walls of the auction house using his bare hands and with little effort.[8] The only reason he was caught into slavery was because he dropped his guard while sleeping, as his captors noted the impossibility of taking him in otherwise.[1] Alongside his fellow members of the New Giant Warrior Pirates, he was an S Class member in Buggy Pirate Dispatch Society whom Buggy noted to be their best soldiers. As the shipwright of the New Giant Warrior Pirates, he has sufficient carpentry skills to maintain and repair their ship Naglfar.
He also has knowledge of Haki, as he knew that it was Rayleigh who knocked out Disco with it, although it is unknown if he can use it himself.[1]
Weapons[]
While as a child, Stansen carried a sword strapped to his back.[6]
As a member of the New Giant Warrior Pirates, he is equipped with a giant hammer.[2]
History[]
Past[]
Sixty-three years ago, Stansen, as a child, was on Elbaph watching Hajrudin's training to become a warrior.[6] Afterwards, he became a pirate and left Elbaph. At an unspecific place at some point, Stansen was captured by the Coffee Monkeys group when he was asleep with his guard down.[9]
Summit War Saga[]
Sabaody Archipelago Arc[]
Eventually, Stansen was transported to the Human Auction House in Sabaody Archipelago, which was a pain for the Coffee Monkeys.[9] There, he was equipped with a bomb collar and imprisoned, before waiting alongside Rayleigh to be auctioned off as a slave at the upcoming slave auction.[1]
Later, with help from Rayleigh, Stansen got his bomb collar off and escaped the auction house along with other slaves. He was grateful to the Straw Hats and Rayleigh for liberating them.[7]
During the Timeskip[]
After being freed, Stansen and three other giants joined Hajrudin in his goal to revive the Giant Warrior Pirates. The crew became mercenaries for the pirate dispatch organization, Buggy's Delivery. During the duration of their service, the crew became the five top earners of the organization, as well as earning the rank of S-Class soldiers.[10]

The Stories of the Self-Proclaimed Straw Hat Grand Fleet[]
Stansen and Hajrudin went down to Elbaph's Underworld and hunted down a giant moose so they could serve the meat to the Straw Hat Pirates upon their arrival. Since their Painter would not work while it is snowing, they had to carry the moose's body over their heads.[11] While heading back to the Sun World, Stansen and Hajrudin encountered the original Giant Warrior Pirates, as well as a few of the Straw Hats. The pair were excited for a meeting with Luffy, and mentioned the moose that they had hunted for him and his crew.[12] Not long after, the pair arrived back at the Western Village, where they successfully met up with Luffy and the rest of their crew. As Hajrudin congratulated Luffy on his new status as one of the Four Emperors as well as apparently defeating Big Mom, and proudly offering his and his crew's services to the Straw Hat captain, Luffy recognized Stansen's face back from Sabaody, where Luffy freed Stansen from slavery. Stansen then confirmed that it was indeed him whom Luffy saved and pledged his lifelong gratitude to Luffy for saving him. Stansen then prepared the feast for the Straw Hats alongside the other giants when the crew set out to meet Jaguar D. Saul.[13]
Later, he would join with the other giants in their celebration of their friendship with the Straw Hats. However Stansen, alongside the other New Giant Warror Pirates, then received word from Road that Luffy and Zoro were making their way towards the "Underworld" to free Loki. Fearing what could happen, Hajrudin and his crew steered a svarl downwards to the Underworld in an attempt to stop Luffy and Zoro, but they unfortunately miscalculated the height and speed with what they were descending, but were saved by Luffy with a Gomu Gomu no Balloon, only to be launched upwards by the impact, minus Gerd and Sanji who was accompanying them. Stansen, bruised and bit injured from the impact, then watched in shock as Zoro accidentally freed Loki from his chains, though Hajrudin previously pleaded to them for not doing so due to the dangers Loki could have to Elbaph.[14] He was terrified when Loki ignored their pleas and provocatively struck the Adam Tree, causing a fire on the upper branch, shocking both the New Giant Warrior Pirates and the Straw Hats present.[15]
Stansen was then surprised to see Loki being seemingly easily knocked out by a soft punch by Luffy. When Hajrudin agreed to have Gerd treat Loki's wounds, Stansen listened in to the group's conversation about what to do with Loki and what happened in the past between Loki, Harald and Hajrudin. As Hajrudin couldn't stop his emotions from taking over, Stansen alongside Road had to stop Hajrudin's attempt from openly killing an injured Loki, only for Loki to taunt Hajrudin even more.[16] As Goldberg returned from a hunt with Zoro and Sanji with fresh provisions, he previously had Stansen asked to chop some nearby trees so that Goldberg could prepare a meal for everyone. As Loki was provided with provisions to recover, Stansen listened in to Loki explaining about Luffy's pact with him, the God's Knights arrival on Elbaph as well as Loki's previous encounter with a famous pirate.[17]
Trivia[]
Stansen may be named after the former professional wrestler Stan Hansen.
Stansen is the only member of the New Giant Warrior Pirates that was introduced before the timeskip and the first Grand Fleet member to ever appear in the series.
Stansen's design after the timeskip could be an homage to the viking Sven from the series Vicky the Viking.
