Thirty years ago, the Takotopus Pirates pursued Amatsuki Toki on an island in the New World. After being scared off by the apperance of the swollen Kozuki Oden, they returned with their captain Karma. However, Karma was easily defeated by Whitebeard.[2]
At some point, the Takotopus Pirates became a subordinate crew of the Whitebeard Pirates, becoming part of the giant family that Edward Newgate treasured deeply.[1]
Marineford Arc
As one of the 43 subordinate crews, the Takotopus Pirates set out with the Whitebeard Pirates to rescue Portgas D. Ace from execution. They set out to Marineford to fight in what would be known as the Battle of Marineford.[1]

"Takotopus" is combination of the Japanese word "tako" and the English word "octopus".
