"Rumors in the Wind" Taro is a traveling rumormonger and gossip. He appears in Chin Piece.[1]
Appearance[]
Wind Rumor Taro is a short man in a full-body costume that loosely resembles a human ear, with a large loop above his head and dark shorts. He appears to be somewhat middle-aged, and holds a sign with the words "over there" (あっち, atchi?) written on it.
Abilities and Powers[]
Taro stays aware of local rumors and gossip, which he then spreads to others. He appears to have some level of physical skill, traveling the ocean by swimming.
He is considered to be an idiot by the narrator, with his introduction box referring to him as "just an idiot" (ただのバカ, tada no baka?).[1]
History[]
Chin Piece[]
While sailing through the ocean, Chinpy and Kusopp discussed wanting to recruit their own version of Roronoa Zoro when they were suddenly interrupted by Taro. He told them that according to "rumors in the wind", someone resembling Zoro was at a nearby island, before jumping backwards into the ocean.[1]
He was later asked by Eunkov to act in their movie, but left when they revealed that the cast wouldn't be paid.[2]
Trivia[]
- In Japanese, "Taro" (太郎?) is commonly used as a generic male name, similar "Joe" in English.
- It can also be used as a derogatory slang term for an idiot, which is consistent with Taro's introductory box description, "just an idiot".
