"Tenshi to Akuma" is the 27th opening theme of the One Piece anime and the 13th opening of the second half of the series.[1]

Opening[]

The opening starts with a POV from Bonney's perspective of moments throughout her life; starting as a baby pawing at the sun, in the bordered up church, her shielding herself from the sun on Sabaody Archipelago, escaping the flames from being captured, and finally escaping from the Warm Eddy, the water's surface getting engulfed by an image of Kuma's hand. We then transition to her on Egghead looking up at something in the sky, with it reminding her of Kuma's stories about Nika, and image of her father appearing in her tearful eyes. Finally, we see Luffy staring off into the horizon, his straw hat blowing in the wind.

The titles then appear, which are intercut with Luffy's arrival on Egghead, Atlas, Lilith and Edison flying about, and the Straw Hats hanging out on the Thousand Sunny, which eventually ends with Luffy turning around to smirk at the camera. We then see the Straw Hats wandering about Egghead, with Luffy and Zoro bickering before getting disciplined by Nami, amusing the rest. We then see Bonney walking through the streets, but she finds herself in front of Kuma's memories, which causes her to become overwhelmed. The memories then explodes and engulfs the screen, showing moments from Kuma's life: We see him, Ivankov and Ginny as slaves during the God Valley Incident, with a young Garling to the right and young Kuma to the left, before Saturn appears in the middle. We then see the Freedom Fighters, with Dragon to the right and Kuma to the left. Finally, we see Kuma in the church he found Bonney in, before the screen cuts to a memory of Ginny.

We then see Bonney aging up as a montage of Kuma's life plays in the background, with him shedding a tear, first setting sail as a pirate, celebrating something, and him crying tears of joy. Jewels fall from the sky as Bonney grew up which eventually resulted in her developing the Sapphire Scales. Snow also passes by the camera which then turns into Kuma's letter to Bonney. The scene then cuts back to Bonney on Egghead, who looks terrified as Saturn's spider legs sneak up behind her through a think layer of smoke, before a massive eye glares at her. We then see a brief glimpse of Sakazuki and the Revolutionary Army before seeing Vegapunk and York facing away from each other, the two of them getting separated by a crack, which soon becomes a hole, from which Luffy's fingers emerge and he peeks through.

The scene then cuts to Bonney reaching out to Luffy in his Gear 5 form, striking the Nika pose, which brings back memories of Bonney and Kuma doing the pose too. This is replaced by a fight between Kizaru and Sentomaru, the latter's attack showing a brief flashback of their past together. Luffy then emerges to fight Kizaru, who summons multiple clones to fight Luffy. We are then shown various scenes from Bonney's past with Kuma, before cutting to Dragon looking at his son's first wanted poster on a ship. Inside the ship, Kuma is thinking of what to say to Bonney in his letter to her, before smiling. The scene then cuts to Bonney's POV as Kuma's giving her a piggyback ride, with her trying to grab his ears. Kuma throws her into the air, which transitions to the Thousand Sunny flying through the air, as most of the Straw Hats watch on as Bonney sleeps on the ship's swing.
