Totland is an archipelago constituting the main territory of one of the Yonko, Big Mom, and her crew, the Big Mom Pirates, which extends around Whole Cake Island.[2]
According to Pekoms, it should by now be considered one large, powerful nation, and Big Mom wants it to become a utopia, which unifies all races of the world.[2]
Overview
Layout
Totland is a massive archipelago, with Whole Cake Island, Big Mom's base of operation, in its center, and around it, roughly lined up in circles, 34 subsidiary islands each ruled by a minister; all islands appear to be themed after a certain dessert.[2]
Near all these islands, outposts, which are called "Tartes" (like the 28th Tarte), are located both on smaller isles[3] and on the coasts of said 34 islands,[2] consisting of buildings in the shape of confectionery tarts, in which smaller branches of the Big Mom Pirates are stationed. Any unauthorized ship sighted by them is immediately shot down.[4] In addition, "Tartships" sail around the sea area to also shoot down intruders.[5] However, territorial sea slugs scattered across Totland's sea send out warning signals to Den Den Mushi to let visitors know that they have crossed the perimeter of Big Mom's territory.[6]
Islands
- Whole Cake Island — The central and main island, themed after cake. It is the base of operations of the Big Mom Pirates.
- Cacao Island — One of the outermost islands, themed after chocolate.
Inhabitants
Totland is most notable for being home to members of almost every race and tribe in the world, as Big Mom claims to desire a utopia where all races and species can live in harmony. The known races that inhabit Totland are Humans, Fishmen, Merfolk, Minks, Longarms, Longlegs and even Dwarves. Strangely, living objects (such as furniture, ships, jellies, etc.) are also shown to exist within Totland, although what these living objects are called and whether they are the result of Devil Fruits or some other unknown factor remains to be seen.

Trivia
- The concept of Totland may be based on Wonderland of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, with Charlotte Linlin representing either/both the Queen of Hearts (in regards to her extreme selfishness) or/and the Mad Hatter (due to her obsession with tea parties).
- Cacao Island may be derived from the Chocolate Factory of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Etymology
- In German, "tot" means "dead".
- In Catalan, "tot" means "all".
