The Tragedy of Galzburg[1] was a massacre that took place thirty-one years ago in the country of Galzburg in the Grand Line. After winning a war against an enemy nation, the country's military force, Galzforce, turned on its most powerful soldier, Douglas Bullet. This resulted in Bullet wiping out both Galzforce and Galzburg completely, leaving no survivors.[2] This event was first mentioned by Crocodile.[1]
Douglas Bullet was adopted by Douglas Gray, a commander in Galzforce, and indoctrinated into the army as a child soldier. He eventually grew in power, reaching a point where victory was potentially achievable by him alone; Gray, in response, promised to bring him to the army's upper ranks if he defeated the enemy army. Bullet complied, forcing the enemy commander to surrender, but Gray betrayed him in response, judging Bullet too strong to live.
Enraged by the betrayal, Bullet destroyed Galzforce and Galzburg, becoming a fugitive from the World Government.[2]
Aftermath[]
This incident forced Bullet to go on the run, hunting down strong challengers to fight. This eventually led him to Gol D. Roger,[2] and after failing to defeat him, to join the Roger Pirates.[1]
