Usunoro is a muscular man with tanned skin and long blond hair, beard and mustache. Due to his SMILE ability, his lower body is a giant tortoise with light green skin and a dark green shell. He wears metal braces around his elbow, a black cape and a metal helmet.
Usunoro is quick to take the initiative as he attacked Momonosuke first out of all the Armored Division members, but does not pay enough attention to his surroundings, failing to notice Yamato before it was too late.[1]
Usunoro ate a Giant Tortoise SMILE (ゾウガメのSMILE,Zōgame no Sumairu?), an artificial Zoan-type Devil Fruit that transformed his lower body into a giant tortoise. This causes him to walk rather slowly.[2]

Usunoro wields a large and heavy metal axe in combat.[3]
Once the Raid on Onigashima began, Usunoro rejoined the Armored Division. They targeted Momonosuke, who was being protected by Shinobu. After Shinobu was injured protecting Momonosuke from the Armored Division's arrows, Usunoro was about to attack the two with his axe, but was defeated by Yamato who had followed them.[3]

Usunoro (薄鈍?) means "half-wit; fool; simpleton" and is the Japanese name of the card game Pig, matching the card game-themed names of the Beast Pirates' Shinuchi.
