The Vegaforce-01 was an enormous mecha created and operated by Dr. Vegapunk, namely via his Lilith satellite.[1] It was modeled after the legendary Iron Giant, a robot created 900 years ago.[2]

Appearance[]

The Vegaforce-01 was an utterly massive mecha, being large enough to easily hold the Thousand Sunny in its hands and stated to easily dwarf the General Franky. Given its scale in comparison to the Sunny, this likely gave the Vegaforce measurements of at least 300m (nearly 1000') in height and its upper body around 200m (650') in width. Its upper torso was extremely broad, but narrowed considerably near the waist, and its arms and legs were comparatively much thinner metal bars. On its upper torso, it had a star symbol on its left breast and its name "Vega Force 1" on the right breast, as well as the number 12 printed on its right shoulder. Its lower torso was darker colored and contained the cockpit where Vegapunk piloted it, accessible by a large window at the front which opens like a drawbridge, allowing Vegapunk to exit the mecha and interact with people in person while still operational. On its head, the Vegaforce was equipped with a centurion's helmet and visor, obscuring its face save for a pair of human-like eyes.[1]

Abilities and Powers[]

Befitting its enormous size, the Vegaforce-01 had been shown to be extremely powerful, being capable of taking out the powerful Mecha-Shark with a single punch whose force resembled an explosion. It was capable of picking up ships with its hands and moving underwater at great speed.[1]

The Vegaforce-01 was also equipped with jet propulsion and anti-gravity technology that, when used in conjunction, allowed the robot the capability of self-sustained flight. However, those functionalities were limited to Egghead alone due to them requiring specific atmospheric conditions provided by the island's A.C. system in order to properly work.

History[]

Past[]

At some point within the last 4 years, Vegapunk informed Kizaru that Vegaforce-01 was complete, and it was the giant robot that mankind had always dreamed of. [3]

Final Saga[]

Egghead Arc[]

Vegaforce Saves The Sunny

Vegaforce-01 prevents the Straw Hats from drowning.

When the Straw Hat Pirates drew near to Egghead on the Thousand Sunny, the Mecha-Shark went to attack them. With the shark's primal urges overriding its programming and threatening to completely annihilate the crew's possessions, Lilith went underwater in the Vegaforce-01 and took it down before lifting the Sunny back above water. Lilith then exited the Vegaforce-01 and introduced herself as Dr. Vegapunk, to general confusion.[4] Lilith attempted to rob the Straw Hats of their valuables, but was ordered not to by Shaka, who told her to instead bring them up to the Labophase, to which she begrudgingly obliged. Lilith used Vegaforce-01 to fly up to the Labophase, carrying the Thousand Sunny in its hands while doing so. After arriving, it was powered off and Lilith exited it.[5]

Vegaforce-01 Destroyed

Vegaforce-01 is destroyed.

Later, when it was decided that the Vegapunks would attempt to flee Egghead, Lilith once again piloted the Vegaforce-01, intending to use it to carry the Thousand Sunny to the back of the island in order to assist in the escape. [6] Vegaforce-01 was caught in the crossfire of Luffy and Kizaru's fight, and was heavily damaged when Luffy was sent crashing through it by Kizaru. It then violently exploded, destroying it entirely. [7]

Trivia[]

  • The Vegaforce-01 may be named after Air Force One, the personal aircraft of the United States president.
