A weapon (武器, buki?) refers to any object, substance or even creature expressly designed with the purpose of inflicting harm or physical damage upon something else. One Piece, as a work with heavy emphasis on adventuring and combat, features many different types of weapons, some existing in real life while others are entirely fictional.
While in theory any object can be improvised as a weapon in the hands of a skilled enough user (for example, Sabo's pipe staff or Paulie's Rope Action), this page only describes subjects that are actually intended for combat use.
Blades[]
- See also the associated categories: Blades and Blade Users.
Blades feature a thin, sharp portion specifically designed to cut materials. They often feature a non-sharp handle in order to be safely wielded, although some blades can be entirely sharp.
Killer's Punishers are an example of blade weapon that does not fall into any specific subcategory due to its unique spinning mechanism. Hody Jones's Kirisame similarly does not feature any sort of handle, being meant to by used in conjunction with the dorsal fins of Fish-Men. Nefertari Vivi's Peacock Slashers utilize a finger-attached cord for handling instead.
Swords[]
Axes[]
Claws[]
- See also the associated category: Claw Weapon Users.
Claws are glove-like weapons with sharp appendages attached at the end of the digits, thus mimicking the limbs of certain creatures. Most are based on the natural claws found on mammal species, but a few exceptions exist, such as Gyro's crab-like pincer claw.
Kuro was the first claw user shown in the series, as evident by his Cat Claws. Marshall D. Teach is another well-known user of claws, albeit exclusively in past appearances. Paw-like claws are also the weapon of choice of many Mink Tribe members, most notably Carrot.
Daggers/Knives[]
- See also the associated category: Dagger Users.
A dagger, or fighting knife, is a type of combat knife that can be either wielded or thrown in some cases.
Due to their small, portable size, knives are a common backup weapon in many cases. Dracule Mihawk, Eustass Kid, Bartolomeo, Bellamy and Jesus Burgess have all been shown wielding knives as a complementary means of fighting distinct from their usual repertoire of techniques. Mihawk in particular will employ a Kogatana for battle if he does not think an opponent is worthy of using his Yoru against.
Buggy is the first known user of knives in the series, using them primarily for ranged combat. Crocodile has a hidden dagger built within his hook that he is able to bring out at will. Who's-Who wields a dagger that, at first glance, appears to be a katana due to its long scabbard.
Shuriken[]
- See also the associated category: Shuriken Users.
Shuriken are a type of throwing knife. They are typically star-shaped, though this is not always the case.
Shuriken are a common weapon in Wano Country, used primarily by Ninja. Still, they have been occasionally used in other places, such as part of Usopp's own arsenal and Porche's Cutie Baton.
Chakram[]
A chakram is a circular blade meant for throwing.
Jango is the only notable user of chakrams in the series so far, usually employing them as pendulums for his hypnosis as well.
Poles[]
Poles predominantly consist of a long shaft. Some may be equipped with weights or blades at the tip, as is the case with halberds or scythes, but others tend to be merely plain.
Urouge wields a massive pillar-like weapon that could be considered a "pole", yet it cannot be properly categorized in any subtype due to its unique proportions. Black Maria also owns a pole that becomes a polearm when Wanyudo attaches himself to its end.
Polearms[]
Staves, spears, halberds, scythes and mauls are the five most common types of polearms in the series, some even featuring their own subclasses.
Spades[]
A spade is a shovel-like weapon that consists of a flat, fan-shaped blade mounted atop a pole of varying length. Like scythes, spades were originally agricultural tools (used for digging or swiping around dirt/snow) that eventually got adapted to combat use.
Dalton wields a very strange looking spade with an oversized blade, making it look similar to a sword in appearance. The Royal Guards of Arabasta Kingdom also employ weapons that are similar to a Monk's spade.
Morning Stars[]
A morning star consists of a long shaft with a spiky metal orb attached at the end. In many ways, morning stars could be considered a mix between clubs and polearms, due to combining the weight of the former with the range of the latter.
Ulti occasionally wields a morning star when fighting in her human form. Another known user is Fen Bock, whose morning star exhibits an unique gourd-shaped head.
Clubs[]
- See also the associated category: Club Users.
Clubs are a heavy, blunt weapon made of varying materials. While most of the clubs seem are of the studded or spiked variety, a few appear to be plain and smooth, like Babe's baseball bat and Hamburg's bludgeons.
Alvida is the first known club-user in the series, with her weapon being the basis of her epithet of "Iron Mace Alvida".
Kanabō[]
The kanabō is a metal, spike-adorned warclub often featuring a hollow ring below the handle. In mythology, it is frequently associated with Oni.
In the series, the vast majority of clubs tend to take after the kanabō, save a few exceptions. Notable named kanabō include Hassaikai and Takeru, wielded by Kaidou and Yamato, respectively.
Tonfa[]
A tonfa is a type of stick weapon that features a handle perpendicular to the shaft, allowing the weapon proper to be wielded in parallel to one's own arm.
Gin uses a pair of tonfa that have cannonball-sized weights at the ends. Scratchmen Apoo has also employed the use of tonfa for defense.
Flails[]
- See also the associated category: Flail Users.
Flails consist of a striking mace head (spiked or not) attached to the end of a chain or rope.
Rakuyo wields a flail that appears to be alive for mysterious reasons. The Just Eleven Jurymen all wield non-spiked variants that are essentially weaponized balls and chains.
Nunchaku[]
The nunchaku consists of two stick-like bludgeons attached together by a short chain. It is considered a type of short-ranged flail and commonly used in martial arts.
Gambia has access to a standard pair of nunchaku. Franky is also capable of using a massive nunchaku weapon that he dubs Heavy Nunchaku.
Kusari-fundo[]
The kusari-fundo (鎖分銅?) is a long-ranged weapon consisting of a chain with weights on both ends.
Zeo wields a variant of kusari-fundo that is actually split in two distinct chains, each with their own weighted end.

The following weapon types are capable of launching projectiles through some sort of special mechanism, simple physical force or both.
Guns[]
Bows[]
A bow is an often wooden, arc-shaped device capable of launching arrows through an elastic string attached between both of its ends. Bow and arrow wielders are known as archers.
The first archer shown in the series was Chess of the Bliking Pirates, who specialized in the use of flaming arrows. Despite not using bows proper, the Kuja all favor archery, doing so through their snake weapons.
Slingshots[]
A slingshot is a relatively small, hand-powered, catapult-like weapon.
Usopp is the sole known user of slingshots in the series, first starting with the Ginga Pachinko before upgrading it to Kabuto and Kuro Kabuto, which, despite their relatively larger sizes, are still slingshots in practice.
Flamethrowers[]
- See also the associated category: Flamethrower Users.
A flamethrower is a device capable of shooting a jet of flames.
Certain characters like Franky, Fuza, and Damask are capable of "breathing" fire thanks to having built-in flamethrower technology somewhere on their person. External flamethrowers are rarer, but still exist (as is the case of the Burn Bazooka).
Blowguns[]
A blowgun is a relatively narrow, tube-shaped weapon capable of shooting projectiles through air exhalation
Charlotte Flampe wields such a weapon. Vergo can also improvise his bamboo staff to fire projectiles in a similar manner.
Lasers[]
- See also the associated category: Laser Weapon Users.
A laser is a device that is capable of firing a focused beam of light. In the series, those beams tend to have explosive properties.
All Pacifista units are equipped with laser devices developed by Vegapunk (based on his studies of the Pika Pika no Mi). Other advanced cyborgs like Franky and Queen also have access to this technology.
Substances[]
Certain substances can be weaponized in order to inflict direct or indirect harm upon someone.
Seastone[]
Seastone is a rare mineral originating in Wano Country. While not normally a weapon, seastone has the natural property of weakening Devil Fruit users upon contact, turning it into a valuable resource. For this reason, it tends to be repurposed into a variety of weapons, ammo and restraining tools.
Smoker's Nanashaku Jitte is an example of a seastone-imbued weapon.
Chemicals[]
- See also the associated categories: Chemical Weapons and Chemical Weapon Users.
Any device that employs the release of harmful substances can be considered a chemical weapon, with said chemicals usually coming in liquid or gas form. An example is KYP gas, which renders targets with a feeling similar to heavy intoxication. Sleep gas has also been used in occasion, with people like Miss Catherina having access to it.
Poison is by far the most widespread chemical weapon in the series due to its usually deadly nature, with several characters like Krieg or Crocodile utilizing it in explosive or coated form.
Viruses[]
Viruses are sometimes employed in combat as a form of biological warfare, which would classify them as biochemical weapons.
Queen specializes in this form of warfare, having developed extremely deadly viruses like Mummy and Ice Oni that can be incorporated in standard bullets.
Explosives[]
Ancient Weapons[]
Ancient weapons refer to a mysterious set of three weapons said to be the result of extremely advanced technology, and that exhibit capacity for massive global destruction.
Very little is still known about those weapons, but they do not appear to have similar natures, as one has been described to be a warship of some sort whereas another is confirmed to be an actual living person.
Pluton[]
Poseidon[]
Uranus[]
Miscellanous Weapon Types[]
Whips[]
- See also the associated category: Whip Users.
A whip features a flexible cord (known as whiplash) that must be swung around for striking, often producing a snapping sound when done so. It is commonly used for torturing prisoners or to tame animals.
The only named whip in the series is Beethoven, Kujaku's whip. Mohji is the first known whip user in the series, although this usage is currently exclusive to the Buggy's Crew Adventure Chronicles. Sadi wields a trident that can turn into a whip if she so chooses.
Shields[]
- See also the associated category: Shield Users.
A shield is a wooden or metal plate primarily used for defense in combat, but can be employed as a backup or supporting weapon if necessary.
Both Dorry and Brogy can use their shields offensively through their Svalinn technique. Machvise usually employs his shield solely for offense by combining its sturdiness with the effects of his Ton Ton no Mi. Goldberg uses a shield that appears to be alive through unknown means.
Fist-load Weapons[]
- See also the associated category: Fist Weapon Users.
Fist-load weapons are a broad category of weapons that may include knuckles, gauntlets, gloves and other hand coverings that enhance punching damage.
Fullbody was the first known user of such weapon type in the series, using a single one equipped on his right hand that made him famous enough to be known as "Iron Fist" Fullbody. Ms. Monday was the first to use an actual pair of brass knuckles. Foxy employed spiky boxing gloves during his fight against Monkey D. Luffy.
Dials[]
- See also the associated categories: Dial-Powered Weapons and Dial Weapon Users.
While not all Dials are adequate for combat use, several types provide useful effects that allow them to be used as weapons. This is the case with the Axe and Impact Dials, both being important tools of Sky Warfare. Dials can also be used to upgrade regular weapons like, for example, the Heat Javelin or even the Perfect Clima-Tact.
Mechas[]
- Further information: Vehicle#Mechas and Category:Mechas
Mechas are a type of vehicle consisting of a machine that requires a pilot for operation. All mechas have some sort of fighting capability and thus are effectively weapons.
